I found your art very cute, with caveats in the anatomy of the arm and leg, which was a little strange; and the hair looks "magnetized" by the leaves of the tree, as they are indoors with a tree in the middle. If hair is "alive" I believe that giving it greater mobility would be ideal, or if that is not the goal, then letting it flutter in the wind would be really cool! I also liked the tree and leaves, the colors used on it left a very "fantastic" fairytale tone and the wood tone on it was well crafted. ( °¬° )9

This deviation is absolutely incredible! I love it! My favorite parts of your work definitely has to be the character you created and the super cute outfit, the colors, the fantasy setting, and your use of shading. The shading and colors definitely helps bring your picture to life. It looks realistic and overall gorgeous. That’s what I love about it. I have nothing bad to say at all about your work. You are incredibly talented. All I can say is everything is so beautiful and it definitely shows how much hard work and imagination you put in it. Great job.

Thank you so so much for this incredibly nice comment, I don't deserve this. And I took literally half a month to reply which I'm very ashamed of. But your comment makes me really happy thank you

Hello,

I am from a.deviantart.net/avatars/p/r/p… " alt=" " title="ProjectComment" /> where you have requested for some constructive feedback. I am sure that mentioning how the foot is a bit odd (toes) would be just pointing out the obvious.

I think the hair color and the style of clothes would be a bit unusual for most fantasy works, but in the end, it helps to create an impression of a weird dream. Along with the fur color of that odd little critter, it adds to the weirdness.

This makes me remember Cthulhu Mythos and how Lovecraft wrote plenty of weird fiction too, and in his works, we heard about Dreamlands, and that place is created from dreams. Even weird dreams. But while some part of it can mimic history, it would also mimic mythology, local legends, fantasy, and pop culture.

How would the things we know well from fantasy and pop culture would look on Dreamlands? I am sure all the odd parts we can mentioned about your picture can be a reasonable choice to represent that weirdness.

So here the issues with anatomy wouldn't be that important.

Your work is based on imagination. It makes your job much harder. In your place I would do a sketch from imagination, then I would use some basic 3D software like DAZ studio to create some references for sizes if you want some anatomy. As you only need a basic figure with bends you won't have to buy content for it. Then you can use your sketch, your imagination, the references you have together for the refined work. Or you can research references.

When you get used to this and to anatomy you will use references less and less often.

You have your initial imagination, spontaneous sketch but you can use the power of association to refine ideas. Also as you are a member of ProjectComment you can use the quick questions thread for some limited "brainstorming" to refine ideas and have some feedback on sizes, anatomy or anything.

Hi,

omg, I'm sorry for being so late on replying. I wanted to thank you a lot for this detailled comment. It helps a lot to hear an honest review and you are totally right, it's much harder to paint without reference. It is challenging but sometimes it can be good practise to see, what need to be practised with reference more . I clearly need to study the human proportions better but it's a long journey

There's a lot of similarity to some stuff I've painted in the past but yours is more advanced. Especially those leaves remind me of ones I've painted in the past but I had the veins cross the outline because I didn't know erasers could be used to clean up edges back then. I like the overall theme in this, the wild, circular flow and those tiny moons and stars on her clothing. The color palette is maybe a bit too much on the wild side, which might clash with some people, but you're making this as a form of self-expression and it's certainly better to use bold colors than make everything grayish just to play it safe.

The main issue with this is the anatomy. I think the problem stems from knowing that figures are supposed to be 8 heads tall but not knowing how thick they are in side profile. Everybody just keeps talking about the rule of heads but no one ever goes to underline how thick people's rib cages and lower abdomen are! For fantasy creatures like fairies, the torso can be more dainty, but if it looks too long for its thickness, it can make it look off. It can be useful to think of the side profile of a torso like a letter B, with the tuck above the belly, and remembering that the lower abdomen pretty much continues all the way to the crotch. Skinny people can have more definition there but for the generic shape, it's possible to combine the curvature of the lower abdomen and pubic area into one roughly spherical shape.

Likewise, it puts a lot of strain on the neck muscles to tuck the chin straight down, whereas angling the neck forward would make it look more natural.

I hope this helps. It's past midnight so I just wrote this stream of consciousness -style without much editing.

Thank you Ilona, for your quick reply to my post. As always, your critique helps a lot. It makes me think in a critical way about my anatomy skills and hopefully will help me to improve

Appart from that it's a motivation to see that people are still interested in my art although I upload not really often <3

Well, you're a memorable person who has shown a lot of development over the time I've been following you. I'm not very active either, so I often find it sort of tiresome to see people who post every day. Often enough things start repeating themselves after a while. I think when people post more rarely, the viewers have time to miss them and care more about the works because they are not a dime in a dozen.
