"It doesn't have to be like this.

All we need to do,

is make sure,

we keep talking ..."

This painting took me the best part of two days to make, but I'm REALLY pleased with how it turned out. I painted this in a mixture of watercolour (background) and acrylics (foreground) using this picture - [link] as my inspiration. It's for my second art project 'Visual communication'. And this painting has taken those words literally.

The old version is a cover from Pink Floyd's 'Division Bell' album. I think the mystical nature of the picture is just as relevant now as it was in the Floydian era. It's about communication. Talking is the one thing which brings all human beings together, which is why Roger Walters used Steven Hawking's synthetic voice to speak the background lyrics in the song. Ironic, no?

But now, with all the technology in the world, invisible transfers and long distance calls, there is very little actual communication, which can lead to human alienation and more often than not; things going wrong. The two metal relics are starting to go rusty ... but they're still talking over instant messages. Take it from them - there's always something to say.

Now, before I go any deeper, I'm going to do something else. Onward for art! ... and metal. probably. =B

Oh, and sorry about the quality of the snapshot. My video camera's not very good at still photos. =/
