I've already told this before. The white background in the control panel is part of the bitmap number 632 & 633 found in Shell32.dll in system32 folder. This cannot be easily changed, it's possible, but It's not possible to change it with only the theme file.
I don't know about the snipping tool, but I'm pretty sure that is also part of one of the system files.

Also, do you have a good flat skin for classic shell?

I do not since I don't use classic shell except for the status bar.

Happy New Year.
Awesome theme! Seems to be first one to have dark background in explorer and white in office apps(what's the secret?). Well done!
Some requests:
Please make a version with more contrast between explorer side bar, address/top bar and file icon area. Examples:
giannisgx89.deviantart.com/art…
sagorpirbd.deviantart.com/art/… (top right corner of screenshot)
raymonvisual.deviantart.com/ar…
Also, Please make separation lines between files in "Content" view blend in with background.
Nice job!

Not much of a secret really. Just change the window color to white.
About your requests, I'll see what I can do.
I try to keep a consistent color scheme throughout, so I either need to add some new colors or use lighter ones in the explorer window.
Do you think the constrast between file area and navigation pane is good as it is now, or do you want it to have even more contrast?
Also, thanks for the tip on the separation lines. I'll try to fix it.

lotsofusernames In reply to Scope10 [2014-01-17 00:48:49 +0000 UTC]
My personal preference would be with the second example(top right corner). That would mean:
- darker navigation pane/address section
- some sort of a gradient in the top section
- lighter file area
- file selection colour that stands out more but is not over the top
- task manager/file transfer windows need to be adjusted to have more contrast
- this could be a separate third version of theme
Thanks for working on this. Effort is very much appreciated!

Alright, I'll see what I can do.
About the task manager/file transfer windows, I haven't really changed much of it compared to the base I used. So I still need to change it up a bit.

Scope10 In reply to 4StringFretless [2014-01-03 23:30:42 +0000 UTC]
Check the description. It's a small change that makes some search or URL bars back to white so it fits better with some programs. I would suggest using the normal version first though.

In what program(s) are you having that problem? I assume you mean the white background around the input box. Or do you mean that the input box itself is dark?

Inment In reply to Scope10 [2013-12-31 15:12:19 +0000 UTC]
It's in the search bar on skype, but it's also happening in places like the URL bar and stuff of that nature. It's the input box that's dark. It feels like it breaks the flow. I really love your VS, and I'd want to use it for a while. Is there anyway on how to fix this, or maybe you have some ideas/tips?

I just updated the zip. It now includes a "W" version of the visual style which should fix those problems. This is however in exchange that some other parts of the VS will appear white.

Unfortunately, I can't find a way to change it. It seems like it is hard coded into Opera.
I've also looked into changing the style, but no success.

If you change the WINDOW:COLOR in Fonts&System Metrics in white i think it is getting fixed.
But it changes the colour of the search windows in the adressbar. And i don't know if anything more changes
I went along trying stuff to see if it is possible cuz i use Opera too..

Those are the changes i did. i.imgur.com/ahSgiCR.jpg
I think it makes it more usable but it removes a little of the darkness of the theme.
As it changes the searchbar colour, but it is more usable with notepad being white, like opera and μtorrent. i.imgur.com/JYIblSt.png
I am looking how to change the item selection in start menu and remove the white areas in control panel.
I did not make the registration settings that you have in the folder of the theme so i don't know if that makes it better..
I really like this and thank you again!

Good to know you found a fix. Although I won't be merging those changes with the theme for consistency reasons. Good job nonetheless.
If you want to change something in the theme I would suggest looking at the link in reply to borislemke. It has all the information you need including what to change for the white in the control panel.
Be sure to do a system restore before messing around with your system files.

To have the automatic color selection just add this lines in the .theme file (under [VisualStyles] ):
AutoColorization=0
ColorizationColor=0XFF191919
I saw you have already fixed the COLORIZATIONCOLOR value in the .msstyles
Merry Christmas!

Unfortunately, themes don't change explorer icons. You would have to change those manually.
I changed my icons through the Windows registry.

How do you actually "create" the themes? I have Googled everywhere but there isn't one clear direction as to where I have to start looking.. I'm a graphic designer and wanted to create my own themes, any advice appreciated..

Scope10 In reply to borislemke [2013-12-04 21:24:52 +0000 UTC]
You need a program called Windows Style Builder (WSB) to change a visual style. After that you would need a list of what properties belong to what. Most of which can be found here: virtualcustoms.net/showthread.…
After you find a part of a visual style you want to change, you need to change the image of it (in most cases). This can be done in any image editing program. After you made the change you import it back into WSB.
This is pretty much all you have to do when making a visual style. It's not difficult, it's only tedious work which requires a lot of patience.

Also, I know you don't like the Ribbon, but I actually think it's OK -- I've had to disable it though because it looks odd in this style. But again, the author of Abisso has found a way to style the ribbon, so, if you get the time, I'd really appreciate it if you could style this. If nothing else, it would mean one less thing to do when applying it on a new machine -- like when I push it on my friends (:

I love this style -- please can you fix the odd icons in pin lists? The option to pin/unpin and the close option have icons which are way too large and overlap the text. I'm sure this is an issue brought about by win8.1. The Abisso style doesn't have this issue -- but yours looks MUCH nicer (:

No major bugs, so you should be good for the most part.
