i REALLY like this one but i'm having a big problem with it. you've addressed the plains of the face so BEAUTIFLY and the light values are amazing but then you have that flat stark lifeless background. its driving me nuts! it need some value or at the very least to be pushed back.

at the time i was on this whole lets make the background as flat as possible bing. i love playing with use of flat and volumetric shapes in my work hopefully i just do it with more intellegince now.

thats pretty dead on this is one of my last brush paintings, i moved to palette knife to get thicker most of my paintings now hit somewhere round the 1/4 - 1/2 inch thick
