81/2x 11 pencil sketch, colored with alias sketchbook proI wanted to do a detailed portfolio piece, a weapon design like you might do for games work... its imaginary, but I used alot of gun reference (old and new) to come up
with the colors and textures.
So why the '
While I work I often find myself humming , and the tunes will always end up relating in some way to what I am drawing... anyway, there's a rap poem by MC 900 ft. Jesus called the Perfect Gun, and since I wanted the thing to feel realistic, it was appropriate.
It has the look of some new guns, but the feel of an old WW2 weapon.. thought alot about my father, an old soldier who recently passed away, and my nephews off to fight in Afghanistan.. having just finished the thing off, I looked again and realised that technically speaking, this thing could never be fired! Its like that drawing of the scissors that would never close.. it looks realistic, but you could never fire it.
So, maybe that makes it the Perfect Gun, after all.

why cant it be fired?
the bolt doesnt have anywhere to go, because the bullet and the chamber is too big. A spring return blowback mechanism would need more space for the recoil sprung to compress into. If I added a few inches to the stock, overlapping the trigger area, it would be closer to being shootable- but, I like it as it is.
