Description: The common false giraffe is a species of antelope that has evolved to take the place of the giraffe. It has evolved from a species of gazelle that lived 40 million years ago. This is the most common and widespread species of false giraffe. Some species have different patterns of fur while others are shorter in height. Although, this species of false giraffe closely resembles its ancestor while the other species don’t have the same resemblance. It has basically stayed the same for about 25 million years.
The false giraffe is light-brown in color on the majority of the bottom with black and white on the neck, belly, and tail. It has two small gray horns on the top of its head near its ears. A long neck connects the head to the body which helps it reach the tops of acacia trees. The neck only consists of 7 vertebrae which make its neck highly inflexible. So, the false giraffe has to bend down by stretching its legs apart to drink, like how giraffes did in the past. It has a coated mouth adapted to help it eat the leaves on the tops of acacia trees. It has very long legs that also help it reach the tops of trees, but it can also be used as a defense against predators.
Speaking defense, the common false giraffe has two different ways to defend itself. The first way of defending itself is by kicking the attacker with its long legs. It might even trample the predators which will usually break the bones of the attacker because of its big weight. The second of defending itself is by charging at the attacker. This will usually intimidate the attacker and the predator will usually flee. This makes the common false giraffe a very successful herbivore of the Congo Savannah.

It may have evolved from the Gerenuk a.k.a. giraffe gazelle.
