Description
so, here's what I'd like some honest opions about:I've never really tried to draw water before, the tutorials I've found are more for making "realistic" water effects in photoshop which looks just as jarring/terrible shoved in my cartoonish style as an actual stock photo of a wave. -_-
eventually I gave up looking and tried to come up w/ something on my own. and well I think it's ok, but it'd be cool if anyone out there would give me their thoughts on it? maybe suggestions for improvement?
thanks so much to anyone who does!
so I'm suppossed to be doing winter, and I have my pokemon using surf ^^' hopefully that'll make more sense when I get the other pages done.
i'm really questioning my decision to make all of these full color....

Well, if you do find some time, try to shade a bit. Even if the shading doesn't look good, it usually gives a piece a more professional look, that's what I noticed with my drawings.
Other than that, I think it's really wondeful, I love already what you're making out of it!

I think I've worked something out for the water now, and thank you very much for the well wishing! ^^

My biggest advice, because your already doing it in a stylized way for the characters, stay styleized with the water too. Borrow a page from the Japanese maybe? [link]
Varying the line quality (Some lines thick, some thin, some places barely lines at all) in a thoughtful way can help too!
Cute piece overall.

heh, I was actually doing all that, or trying anyway (the squiggly pattern of white lines is based off a traditional japanese water motif) but I kinda killed it with the smudge tool. I don't hate it, the smuge-ness helps make it look less static. but praps going back and putting the lines back in some places might help ^^
my favorite thing about photoshop is the ability to go "would this make things look better? god no it looks terrible!" *delete that layer* "ah, back to where things were before I tried that terrible idea..." so, basically I love cheating lol.

I think the water looks really nice! I know the move surf is like a giant wave, but try to make the water "flow" more, if you get what I mean. In the last panel, try to make the surf more spread out at the bottom instead of making it look so controlled. It's a move, and it has to be controlled, but there are some certain extends to how it's controlled XD You can control it to keep it on the stage, but try to make it look more "relax" if you get my drift XDD
It's still a really good water effect ouo Nice job and good luck

Thanks! (and thanks for the fav too ^^)
I think I'll experiment w/ adding some "spray" or something around and at the bottom of that wave, good idea thanks again.

really? yay! I've been challenging myself to try to get the visuals to carry the story, I'm not planning speech bubbles anywhere. so that's really encourageing
