commission for haro/~KellyChan85 , for the Queensland Flood Relief auction :')this was a massive challenge - it was a pretty specific request which included basically everything i find difficult haha (ocean, character interaction, hands, tight-fitting garments, the two characters i struggle drawing the most etc and i discovered otters, dolphins and flippers aren't particularly easy either) and though i know there are heaps of mistakes that i can't seem to fix, it was really fun to work on!! probably the most shippy piece i've ever drawn too and dA thank you for suggesting i upload this into scraps haha

not as long as i expected it to take actually! i'm guessing somewhere between 1-2 hours but my sense of time vanishes when i work never exists so i'm not really sure haha

Ahhh man. I think I heard you refer to this on twitter or summat ("it has everything I find difficult in it"). Well, even if it was challenging, I think it paid off, because it turned out really well. It must've taken you forever, ahhh. I love the way you did the background, especially the water under the dock (maybe an odd detail to pick out but that part looks really good, okay)

Okay, this is Haro. I honestly thought I'd given you a comment, but I fail and I apparently HAVE NOT.
Anyway, this is SO AMAZING. I kind of... am blown away by it. It's beautiful, and you captured what I wanted so perfectly and just AHHHH. I had no idea that I was giving you all these things you struggled with. *feels kind of bad* But for the record, I've always loved the way that you draw America, so I'm really surprised that he's difficult for you! Your interpretation of him in artwork is just great. ANYWAY BACK TO THE ART AT HAND. The background is just stunning. The sunset is perfect and romantic and just... makes me want to be there so bad. It really does look like an ocean sunset. Makes me miss going to the coast. I also love the hint of mountains in the background. The WATER. It's gorgeous. You really, really reflected the sunset in it and the gentle waves and just... seriously perfect. Also the dolphins are RIDICULOUS CUTE. I totally want to squish them. Love how the one in the back is kind of skimming over the water, as well as the adorable personable expressions they have. The otter is just as cute, as well as being extra cute because it's sort of chub and I love that. It's really freakin' precious.
Okay the boys. The boys are perfect. The expressions you gave them and the positioning EXACTLY what I was wanting. It's sweet and intimate and romantic in a... very content way, and I just love that. They look so comfortable with each other and like they're just enjoying each other's presence. Eeeeeh. I love how you did the wetsuits, and the little touch of the star on America's. He would. The way America's got his flipper hooked over England, and their twined hands (and the otter resting on them). England kind of absently stroking the otter and just eeeeeh.
I did make this my lj layout. I'm just so... ecstatic over it. I can't even.

hi!! this comment sdkfjksd noo don't feel bad at all!! as i said i really enjoyed drawing it and i always welcome a challenge so lots of challenges at once is even more brilliant :'D i'm also really happy to hear my Americas look okay haha, i suppose i just don't draw him too often so his hair makes itself deceptively difficult for me to draw. and the water was also something i stared at for a long time as a blank expanse of purple before i finally got the courage to do it and again! it turned out to be really fun as did the three animals :')
i totally would've done the whole star-spangled wetsuit if you'd asked haha although that might've ruined the mood a tad. but i'm so glad that i managed to nail your request the way you wanted and i'm just thrilled to read this comment over and over because it was all completely worth it and i'm just beaming right this second!! i'm still really flattered that you used it for your layout too <3 but thank you again again for donating, i really appreciate it and i know the people of queensland do too.
