My first real try at lightning, i don't think it went too bad, just getting used to the focus. give me your thoughts

Really great! The focus is is the hardest part about night time photography as you don't have much to focus with. Bolt is nice and clear. Depending on where you are and how far the storm is, you can set up your focus while there is still light and leave it set to that then come back when the storm is there. I've got some interesting shots at night but they were spoiled due to bad focus. If you have any filters you want off take them off before you set your focus to manual, depending on if the lens attachments rotate with the focus. Thats how I messed up a night of shooting is by removing a filter and having the lens rotate out of focus. If your camera has a wired remote attachment then think about getting one if you want to keep trying these shots, especially shooting at 100mm. Just a suggestion for crisper photos if you have trouble keeping your hand steady on the shutter.
