Description A tutorial I've been meaning to do for a while, because as simple as it may seem, it can take a few tries to get a professional looking frame made in Photoshop.

Presss download (the arrow pointing down) to view the full tut ; hopefully it will fit on your screen ok.

Don't ask about the preview image lol.... I was in a strange mood!

You are welcome.

And I used the tutorial last night on this piece. [link]

It was easy to follow and better than the process I used to use.

I'm glad it helped you out, I remember it took me forever to even find out that the Edit>Stroke tool existed .

Great Tutorial, I've known how to do this for awhile, but you tutorial opened my eyes to a few things that I had been overlooking so when I created my two new images using this technique, once again I credit the master. Check out my gallery for the two new pics #1 [link] and #2 [link] Thanks again for being such a great resource. -BC

I'm glad! I never know when I'm making one of these if it is really clear to someone who has never done it before lol; after you do something a while it almost becomes mechanical!

i hope so. i've been using PS for a short time. i used to use PSP. And don't do great things with either one cause i'm not a photomanipulator, but a like to make previews to my poetries and i like to discover new things so now i'm messing up with PS

I started with PSP too and this in particular was something I couldn't figure out for a while; in PSP you can make borders quite easily lol. PS has some awesome features though once you get used to it; I rarely use PSP now because Photoshop has everything I need!

well i'm having kind of a hard time to let go of PSP and use only PS because i think it is more complicated to use, but i'm stubborn so i'll learn eventualy lol.
changing the subject...i assumed by you nickname that you like x-files, am i right? i'm addicted to this tv show ^^

Yes yes I loved XF (I was wondering with your signature too!) I even dyed my hair red at one point to match Scully hehe.

pinkperry In reply to Scully7491 [2005-02-26 06:19:02 +0000 UTC]

oh yes the signature is because of the x files. my friend (another addicted) says i kinda look like scully, i really don't think so, but maybe is because of the color of my eyes and my (artificial) red hair ^^. their rock. this frined of mine, barbara, has i bunch of recorded episodes so we watch them over and over again

Nice tut. I did notice one thing though.... for beginners in photography(like me) or photoshop for that matter, you may want to explain how you spaced out that text and which font you used. Just an idea but good job nonetheless.

Scully7491 In reply to TheSingingBush [2005-02-20 08:18:39 +0000 UTC]

I actually thought about that but decided to keep it very basic...that could be another whole tutorial in and of itself lol . Thanks!

Aimed more at beginners or people that never tried framing or want a different result ...I get asked on occasion though and it\'s easier to direct people to a tutorial than explaining over and over lol.

my way of framing seems so freakin simple... how hard can it be?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Scully7491 In reply to Felissauria [2005-02-20 06:55:43 +0000 UTC]

Lol I dunno but people ask and it took me a while to get a style I liked if not the technique itself. This is a very very basic tut in that respect lol...just to give people ideas.

Well it is fairly simple but for someone who doesn't know PS very well it could be a task. It took me forever to figure out how to make a border using stroke for example after coming from PSP where it was very simple and in your face "make a border" lol; finally I found a tutorial telling me how to do it . There is always someone with a question and I try to help lol.

Lol, for me it just downloads the image. Might you have accidentally submitted the wrong file? I\'m looking forward to seeing this, I always have trouble making a good border.
