Description
Update:1/16/2016I remembered I posted this tutorial about 2 years ago when started making tutorials. The first intention was just simply hoping to share some methods. Also another way making friends here.
So far this article had reached 54,334 views, and I saw it has been shared somewhere that I wasn't expected in many countries. So I knew I should share more methods and tutorials from now on. Hope I can help more people who like to try sculpting, or stuck at the cross road which may need a little hints.
Anyway, thanks for your support, and please do let me know if this tutorial really helped! So I have a reason keep on doing, thanks!

It took me a while to make this simple tutorial of how to make figurine hand. Wish I have an extra hand to take pictures... It is pretty much self explain of step by step in the picture comparison. Although it looks simple but you do need the proportional conception of human's hand and fingers in mind. And also compare with the character that you are making. Make a good calculation for the size, think it over through, get it right at once.
Please note the nail should better be made from the beginning of each finger. You might not get a good position to sculpt the nails when putting fingers together. Only if you are making large size hands.
The picture shown with a shape knife meant when you going to bend the fingers. Make a shape cut but don't cut it off! Pull it up a little, bend it and fix a bit for the gaps after you bend it.
I make it in small scale so you may use the same skill to make larger hands. Hope this may help you a little. Please advise if you have any suggestion or question. Thank you for watching my friends! Enjoy!!

how do you prevent the clay from being all soft and smooshed in your fingers?

This is gonna be tough to describe, you are holding the clay without actually holding it hard, softly holding it and work fast, so it would not melt in you hand...

Nice tutorial, you make such beautiful hands.....thanks for sharing.
....question: do you bake any fingers as you apply them?
I kinda don't think you do but thought I'd ask.

I don't bake fingers before putting them together, you may fave seen my other tutorials that I mostly baked the arms first. So I have somewhere holding it to make hands. Ideally it's better sculpt the whole figure and bake at once.
Thanks!!

It actually made totally in hands (on fingers) holding when sculpting, so the way making it, needed to hold on the clay not too loose and not too tie. Take a little practice and you may know what I mean. ^^ If you find difficult to make it at once, put it done and don't hold for too long, the temperature of fingers may ruin its one side detail that you has done. Or move around both sides on fingers frequently.
Thanks a lot for your visit of my page!!

I'm so glad you like it! I was surprised for the responses of this simple tutorial after I posted it. Perhaps it took me a long time to figure out a way making hands. But I'm glad sharing it and helps a little to anyone who needs it. This is one of the methods for smaller scale hands. Hope I can find some time making more useful tips.
