Description
Update:1/16/2016I remembered I posted this tutorial about 2 years ago when started making tutorials. The first intention was just simply hoping to share some methods. Also another way making friends here.
So far this article had reached 54,334 views, and I saw it has been shared somewhere that I wasn't expected in many countries. So I knew I should share more methods and tutorials from now on. Hope I can help more people who like to try sculpting, or stuck at the cross road which may need a little hints.
Anyway, thanks for your support, and please do let me know if this tutorial really helped! So I have a reason keep on doing, thanks!

It took me a while to make this simple tutorial of how to make figurine hand. Wish I have an extra hand to take pictures... It is pretty much self explain of step by step in the picture comparison. Although it looks simple but you do need the proportional conception of human's hand and fingers in mind. And also compare with the character that you are making. Make a good calculation for the size, think it over through, get it right at once.
Please note the nail should better be made from the beginning of each finger. You might not get a good position to sculpt the nails when putting fingers together. Only if you are making large size hands.
The picture shown with a shape knife meant when you going to bend the fingers. Make a shape cut but don't cut it off! Pull it up a little, bend it and fix a bit for the gaps after you bend it.
I make it in small scale so you may use the same skill to make larger hands. Hope this may help you a little. Please advise if you have any suggestion or question. Thank you for watching my friends! Enjoy!!

Well, I'm not working on a larger figure right now. I'm working on gaming miniatures (30mm or so tall), which I will then be making duplicates of.
At this scale, the wire itself will likely end up being most of the finger and any details be filed in.
Which brings me to another question: how do you keep the hands intact like that? You're using Super Sculpey, that stuff is really soft. How do you hold and shape it without mashing the details you already made? And after you bake it, how do the fingers stay intact without any wires inside them?

I make the size of 30mm or less all the time. Your question is easy. I use the smallest paperclips bend them straight as wire. Bend it in proper size for armature and cut it, each cover with a little clay. Now it's important to make “extended“ armature! That is the place you hold the character to sculpt. The extent armature can be pulled off after baked. Are you with me so far?

Sure, sorry about the misunderstanding. Can this method be used on top of a wire armature?

This method is useful for small scale that you can use minimal tools. You may prick a hole in the palm and put on the main armature either baked or unbaked. Put a little crazy glue before attachment. I guess I need to make another tutorial do I? ^__^
If you have the armature of hand and each finger. That means your sculpture is a bigger scale. You may need to sculpt bit by bit in each finger.

I've gotten many new friends here asked the same question about Super Sculpey. That's why I made this tutorial. There will be more coming up, stay tuned, I'll show you how to make hair, folds of cloth, textures etc. Or if you have something bothers you that I may go first.
