I know Caterpie is the more obvious thing to be reminded of, but looking at its "face", the first thing that popped into my mind was the little blue worm from Labyrinth. (Even though they look nothing alike.

I used to see these caterpillars all the time as a kid, so I always recognized caterpie
They even have the orange Y-shaped "horn" of Caterpie as well, but in the real animal, it's usually concealed. They pop it out to look like a snake's tongue and startle birds! This one was too used to being prodded, so I couldn't get a shot of that.
