Description THE STORY

I remember seeing, online, an open-wheeled hot rod dubbed as a Chevrolet, yet it looked like a Ford. It was also known as a "Jay Leno" car in some ways. I found I had some nice images of the car in my image reference folder, so I wanted to look into it, and what I found was quite interesting, especially for automotive enthusiasts.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE VEHICLE
The vehicle is commonly dubbed the Bowtie Deuce. It is a 1932 Ford with the front end from a 1934 (I believe) Chevrolet. In the engine bay is a crate 427 motor that is identical to the one used in the C6 Z06 Corvette. The interior is also designed to evoke classic Corvettes, most likely the C1 generation. The wheels are also supposed to evoke the design of the C6 Z06 wheels, but has a more custom feel to it. The color of this vehicle is a nice, very light metallic shade of blue that has a mild chameleon effect under certain lighting conditions. It is a very well built hot rod roadster and is most likely currently in Jay Leno's garage these days.
THE DRAWING
I felt I needed to draw vehicles in more dramatic poses, since that is much more exciting than seeing a car sit somewhere without much perspective in the view, such as my recent Chevelle Malibu drawing ([link] ). Drawing this car and its extreme angle was a lot easier than I thought, probably because of how extreme the perspective is that the proportions do not have to be incredibly accurate, and it still looks right.
To further my focus on graphics designs, I added some abstraction in the background, which is supposed to convey a particular story behind the car. The vehicle is a marriage of Ford and Chevrolet parts, so I added some shapes that "connect" with each other, represented by the shapes of the logos of Ford and Chevrolet. But, the connection is not solid, it is just connected in terms of alignment. I decided on this because I felt that despite this connection with the Bowtie Deuce, Ford and Chevrolet are still rivals and are still competing against each other with almost everything.
FINAL WORDS
Markers sure are great, but even they seem to have a limit to how good it can look. The background shapes are not as clean as they should be. One medium that may help is airbrush painting, which is something other artists like Chip Foose and Steve Stanford use to get some impressive quality coloring on their sketches. I just got to save up some money for all of that stuff...
Amazing picture! I love the dramatic angle and the details. I like the effect of that bluish light on the car's side and wheels. Great job, keep it up!
Thank you! I was worried the blue lighting reflections would look too overdone. It's a nice contrast to the warmer tan colors.
Wow. You're awesome
I love the stance you chose for this drawing. Also, WOW on that tread work - my brain hurts just thinking about trying to draw that.
Thank you very much!
My brain hurts when I try to lay out the template lines for some of these tires. Off road tires are the worst!
You're welcome!
I imagine that that's very difficult to do, it looks so complex and detailed, and you have to visualize the perspective of the round tire and how it affects the tread as well. Anyway, you did an amazing job on it!
