Description
This is a drawing done for a customer. Prismacolor pencils were used on bristol board. This is probably the most extreme I will ever go with the chrome on any car I draw in the future.

how much time it took to finish that? I've seen your drawings, they are great, you're good at colored pencils, a little bit more attention to the details would be even better.

This drawing took me about 15 hours. I don't have so much time to do drawings, so I have to rush through them often. I am practicing detailing every now and then.
You have some very nice work! The details and accuracy are all great!
I do have plans to draw more cars pretty soon, and I'll focus on the details even more. But, it'll have to take longer obviously. I don't think it is possible to use colored pencils to get the results you do with just lead pencils. Colored pencils are quite limited in their types, and they tend to be chunkier too. have you ever done colored drawings before?

thanks for reply. I didn't draw cars in colored pencils, and like you said they are quite limited especially on details. With graphite pencils and mechanical pencils I have more accuracy and I can build as many details I want

Thank you very much! I also looked at your artwork. Very great artwork! I'm amazed you used pens to draw your stuff! I'm quite lousy with pens. I guess I just don't have a good control with them, haha.

But U really do exclusive works..Hats off to U..
I have some doubts, will u make clear measurements to draw those Trucks..Bcoz i just do it in free hand and i wont even use scales too.. but i go bad in doing tyres, i mean the circles.. How do U get those Sharp tyres (circles)..wat do u Use..Will U plz Releave the Top secrets behind ur drawing ..only to me..ha ha ha..

Hey no problem. Sometimes when I draw cars at a particular angle, I can use a compass or a stencil to draw the wheels and tires (such as this drawing).
Ellipses are a weakness for me. I'm still trying to get used to drawing them. The best thing I do is to just draw a light oval and try to rework it over and over again and check the drawing repeatedly (even by using a light source and looking at the drawing from the other side; it greatly helps in perfecting an ellipse). I also rely on a lot of references to make sure all the parts and even wheel sizes are accurate.

I've seen a few of these trucks on the road. There was one I saw that was just a few feet longer than the one I drew. I never understood why they were so long, but then some people seem to actually live in them.

makes sense. they probably also use the massive interiors to do a bit of jogging and playing tag

Nice work- it looks just as good as the Optimus Prime Peterbilt!

Thanks! I think I improved a lot since the Optimus drawing. The proportions on this truck weren't too hard to deal with in the first place.

Wow! The reflections in this piece are fantastic, and the chrome looks awesome. Is this kind of Kenworth real, btw?

Wow! That's a whole lott'a truck! You really nailed the lines and stance of this truck. The graphics are smooth and run really well. Sterling use of value changes to show all the planes and contours of the body. It looks like i could wrap my hand up into that wheel well! Flat out gorgeous piece of work!

Yeah, imagine what it'd be like of this was a concept drawing and they begin to take those parts in for chroming and you were the chromer. A mix of glee from the BILL you can rack up... and a heart attack because there's never a decent deadline they'd need it by...

Man, the bill would definitely be huge!!! lol.
Though, this truck is nothing compared to an actual Peterbilt I saw on some site, which had every inch of the sheetmetal chromed out! It probably would be a pain to drive next to it in the sunlight.

Your pic here kinda reminds me of one I designed for a fiction... only yours looks a lot better. Basically a nondescript similar style rig on tank treads and an extended sleeper. It wasn't nearly as colorful as this and nowhere near as real and believable.

Yeah, I completely spaced out the blueprint for the engine but I swiped it from a real drag truck. Basically the image in my mind was someone in something like a Blazer or Dodge Ram bullying someone then getting promptly run over by the rig called "Landslide".

Thanks. The customer isn't building this truck by the way. He just wanted a drawing. His taste in these trucks are great because it is giving me so much different stuff to try out. I'm getting a lot of good experience with these drawings!

Oh, I see. You sure got the look of chrome "down".
Did you design the super-graphics? They're great!
You know, I prefer your color pencil work over the photo-look that guy does with acrylic paint!
You know the guy I'm talking about! I forget his "user-name"...I saw that you left him a comment...
Oh, his stuff is cool, but I prefer yours!
