Description
As the dropship hovers over the landing platform to relieve his tired squad below with replacements, he surveys the area with relunctant acceptance, for he will return once more for the changing of the guard...This is for the most part a loose rendering. I did this with only the idea of having a lone person overlooking a vast area on a fine day and expand from there. This was also a kind of fundamental training/practice on value, color, and linear perspective. Done with PS CS2.
...oh, and Merry Christmas everyone!

Those could take down anything. The little ones are for leftovers.
I like things big.

Just realized that it looks sortof Tribes-like, the floating fortress with the huge turret just looks like something out of Tribes 1.
Don't need to say you did a good job, because you already know that

Sorry, let me rephrase that. I've seen it in magazines, tv, etc., but have never tried to play it. Here in Japan everything is PS2, and come this fall, PS3.

it's been confirmed that the ps3 will debut in november here in Tokyo(not sure about the u.s. and europe). according to news reports, it has something to do with their blu-ray technology. most japanese i've talk to are waiting for it to come out rather than buying an xbox 360(it hasn't been doing very well here). there are a lot of ps commercials here, and i have yet to see a 360 one.haha. btw, always looking forward to seeing your work.

The guy's feet don't seem to be in the same perspective as the foreground. And so's the weapon. If you look at it carefully, it looks like his legs are arching over quite a long distance. The other leg in fact shouldn't be very far away from the straight one and the background should be stepped to allow a difference in elevation. Therefore the raised knee should also be lower. His stiff leg shouldn't be too straight, to support the weight and balance properly it should be angled a bit.
It is quite an interesting scene, and I like the dropship design.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you Guv'!

thanks for the crit. as for the weapon, i see why it doesn't look right, i can just remove the shadow to make it look like it's above the ground instead of on it. the soldier is actually on a upward slope even without the steps which explains the straight leg. you realize his left leg is on a step, right? and just remember, i'm still learning.

No worries. We're all always on the learn
As for the leg, it's more of because the slope/step isn't very defined. Even so, the distance is too much for the raised leg to be set apart from the other. I forgot to mention that you've got a really nice backlighting going on for this one, it really works with the faded out background.
