Description
Man, never try to create a drawing with several sheets, try to arrange it, scan it, and work with it in Photoshop... never again. That's what took me sooo long. This idea originated a month ago, i think it's finished(always want to tweak/add/subtract). and, i think i'm getting better with shadow/highlighting and PS. btw, "gunnr" is old norse for "battle".Related content

no probs, Mechs 4 teh win!! (But why doesn't anyone bring out a decent mech shooter on PS2? They all go on X-Box!)

One groin kick to that and it's a pile of pilotless scrap metal
The Functionality of it is sound, but the practicallity has a few flaws: while the upper area is massivly armored, the bicept region could easily be severed. Major flaw is that the pilot himself is at a substancial risk.
Though I do love the ammo feed from the back- brilliant move (also having a universal power plug supply accessable from the knee - nice touch)
As for artistic -- Great internal job on it, but like everyone else, the main gun looks a bit off (maybe it's the lack of details on such a large line art surface.)

you're probably right with the lack of detail on the main gun. as far as exposing the pilot, that was purposely designed. i don't like making my mecha completely protected, otherwise it would look too perfect, i.e. the exposed biceps. i've seen too many gundam style drawings and i definitely stay away from that. moreover, i focus more on form and aesthetic value over function. Thanx a lot for the critique and appreciation, it means a lot!

wow, a mech artist AND morally balanced... yup gotta design those mechs with weaknesses in mind too, otherwise you're screwed if they turn on you...

you hit it right on the nose. many people that design mech units create them without infallibility. i create mech units with such.

I usually have super heavy armour and big killy weapons on big mechs, but then make them slow and extremely vulnerable at the rear. Small mechs are generally more manouverable but lightly armoured and armed. Those are the guidelines I stick to when making mechs

I use a guide and manipulate it to better suite what I'm doing. Generaly the bigger and more powerful a thing is, the slower and easier to hit it is too. Try it. It works on everything

Mech looks great.
Like the numbers on the missile bays.
So useful for counting.
Did he fire 7 or 8 missiles?

Its interesting how the lettering works out, it really makes it look like a technical manual. I still think you should start submitting these to some game or RPG companies...

Mostly the small details, such as the overhang on the upper portion of the missile pod, headlight shades, the pistons on the forearm, the operator's armor...and perhaps a bit on the left lower leg. But mostly the little things.

thanx for the suggestion, i really need it. i'll go back and make it smoother(i hope). it's very easy to make changes being that the circle is on a separate layer in PS. maybe i should change the color of the letters? thanx again.
