Phantom Crash is a game with giant fighting robots, and the reason I asked is because you listed a maker and a class, which are two characteristics mentioned in that game.

You should check out the game Echelon, it's a great source of inspiration, and some of the airships resemble this one.

My one critique would be towards the details. Yes, you do have a lot of them, but I note one glaring error. Are the pilots smarter in the future or something? Where are their warning labels.
'No-step' 'danger'...etc.

Actually, it's not a glaring error, so much as something you simply never included.
Try out adding some warning labels and see how it works out for you.

Great job on the coloring, the one aspect I still suck at P:.

you're right! i wanted to make more labels. putting them is one of the last things i do, but by the time i got to it, my computer was running painfully, painfully slow. i just decided to just leave it. the labels would be on if my computer processed data just a little bit faster, haha....but yeah, you're right. thanks!

(..that's odd...my account say 'no messages', and you replied to my comment...)

Slow? Why would your computer run slow?

I think it's time to upgrade.

actually, sorry, i don't know that game. the original design was supposed have legs like a bird, but i shortened it b'cuz it couldn't fit on the paper. the human scale was supposed to be smaller so that it could hold the pilot in the canopy and the gunner in the nose turret, but at the last moment i completely changed the scale.

anyway, thanx. i try to get input from others so i can improve in the final artwork.

Seikai!!...as usual, you are correct. one of my instructors at training was an m1 abrams tank driver, and he would go on about how good it is, but...a russian t-90 can give the m-1 a run for its money.

btw, good aliens quote...

you've got skills, the work that I see is clean and well thought out. I suppose the only suggestion I would have is to bump up the resolution.. then really go over it with a fine tooth comb, getting rid of any distortions or haze that comes from the process of colorizing it with photoshop. I only put that forward because that is something I need to work on as well. I'm giving thought to cell shading/painting or similar processes to give it that really slick proffessional look. Not sure where to start, but as soon as I do I'll pass info on.

just like you, i would like to reach that slick look. one thing i do is reduce the image and look at it "at a distance" to see if the whole composition is good. then i zoom in close to erase those unwanted pixels. i also play a lot with the contrast/brightness adjustment. it seems i can never get the "perfect" creation. i guess every artist feels as frustrated as i do.

absolutely. I know exactly how that goes. For a long time I've been shooting for a that slick, clean look. Ive seen some proffessional anime guys pull it off, that was why I was thinking about trying cell shading next. I'm currently taking a painting class.. with.. rather mixed results (I think they kinda suck.. but people tell me its ok.) I work alot with Acrylic.. but my main reason for doing this is to get to where I could cell shade my work and make it look proffessional. still have a ways to go.. by the way, I love the shadow work on your machines... it lends it a three dimensional look that I haven't mastered yet.

OUTSTANDING, Pvt. Shasiel!

Can you believe on average I and my battle buddies had to do around 100 push-ups a day when I was at boot camp and advance training, along with other physical training, some for exercise but most for punishment. In training classes some poor fools had to do over 500+ push-ups(but they were given like a week to do it). Ah, those were the days...

Shasiel In reply to sekido54 [2004-12-03 04:12:25 +0000 UTC]

... Kinda the same for cadet officer training during the CAT days. We would usually do a hundred a day aswell plus other forms of exercises as punishment but mostly exercise. Ah but that was just CAT (Civil Army Training) and it does not count for ROTC... I was an officer for CAT but now some medic for ROTC. But I did have the privilage to be in one of the hardened batches of Cadet Officers for CAT around my country. We stuck in honesty and harsh training unlike the other corps. They would brag about this and that and their "1000 push-ups" in 3 days. However, when you do observe them you can easily say that their all talk and no action. I have seen them and they haven slovenly worn incomplete uniforms, ridiculous organization, and very lousy training. Most of them are bums anyway during casual days when you observe them plus their physical attributes speaks of the exercises they do. I have my doubts about that 1000 push-ups in 3 days because most of them can't even do 20 properly. I would believe them if they say 1000 push-ups accumulated throughout the course of the training. So now when I hear those lusy blokes brag I subconciously laugh at such ridiculous remarks. ... This isnt about the drawing anymore... wooops
