Description
This was today's figure drawing session (about 2 hrs), then colored in Photoshop (about 2 more hrs). The original was brush and ink.I used Adam's wonderful "Ogre Bully" ([link] ) as the basis for the palette, and I tried out a technique for the coloring and skin that I saw Justin Sweet demo at Illuxcon last November.

Nice work and thanks for the palette bump - I almost want to see the leg she's got pointing towards us pull planes a bit more so it's clearer it's bending up and coming forward, especially along the top of the upper leg.
Great concept and cool background strokes Kudos, my friend.

Thanks. what do you mean by "pull planes"? Foreshortened?

I mean, if you were to make all the shapes have flat planes, like boxes, you'd show the plane of the top of the leg as being foreshortened and pushed up into the air by highlighting it. Then you'd enlarge the plane on the front of the shin a bit more than the leg behind to show it was coming forward, and light it accordingly, and so forth. That's all. Yeah, mostly just show with the lighting where things are going in space. Right now that leg is a bit ambiguous to me. Just my two cents

Yeah, that leg is the weakest part. I'd realized that before your comment but had been trying to fix it by moving the knee up a bit. Your explanation helps.
If I had more time at the moment I'd keep working it. Unfortunately, it will have to wait until my book project is done (2 drawings left).
Thanks!
