Description Inspired by: [link] (From the Armageddon Soundtrack)

Decided to draw some art from one of my favorite movies, which is Armageddon. Which is about an Asteroid that threatens to destroy all life on Earth, in response NASA recruits a band of the world's top Oil Drillers to help drill into the asteroid and plant a Nuke to hopefully destroy and divert the asteroids course from colliding with Earth. Alot of turmoil happens as the movie progresses, like when the 2 shuttles were attempting to land on the asteroid and debri hits one of the Shuttles causing it to crash.....

Listened to this while I drew as well....
([link] )

But I decided to draw the picture from the shuttles point of view... After the asteroid was destroyed the "freedom" crew began the sorrowful but hopeful journey back to Earth. All are joyful to be alive but mourn the ones they lost during the landing and drilling. "freedom" as he descends mourns the lose of his Sister ship "Independence" who was struck by debri on the attempt to land. but "Freedom" knows that his sister is watching over him and is proud that he made it through and brings back the remaining astronauts to their families.

I really love this movie I've seen it so many times I pretty much memorized all my favorite scenes XD I do recommend you see it if you have not.

If you are wondering the shuttle in the movie is called the X-71 it was a project developed by NASA and the USAF in the movie.

Armageddon directed by: Michael Bay
X-71 Shuttle designed by: Harald Belker

I cried when Harry sacrificed himself. The real reasons why he did it was because 1: He wanted the job to be done right, and 2: He knew that Gracie would be destroyed if A.J died.

I liked the special effects of the movie, I think they've held up over the years. As for the space shuttles they used, I imagine the remaining shuttle, the 'Freedom', would probably become a museum piece and be billed as the ship that saved the world. Of course, you can't forget about the 'Independence' that didn't make it back, or Bruce Willis's character who took part in what is probably the biggest sacrifice scene in cinema. I like the art, it's a proper tribute.

As it turns out, X-71 was the designation for the Space Shuttle's original design if I remember correctly, as it WAS initially intended for military uses as a transport and bomber, but the bomber variant was cancelled and the transport version handed over to NASA, whom then modified the design further, creating the SST (Space Shuttle Transport).

Outstanding! Very moving piece! The facial expression and background just captures the emotions so beautifully. I'd love to see more of your other anthropomorphic work, such as this, as well as your ships, more often!

I just watched Armageddon recently, actually. One of my favorite 90's disaster movies.

Good pass on the X-71. Only one little thing's off: the upturned wingtips.
