Description

I finally managed to actually create this. Its only a temporary reference and only includes common razorwings, other races I will upload later on, for while I improve my art over the next few years to create a proper one with much more detail, also I am not 100% happy with the body/head design so I will just spend some years developing them before I put a lot of time into a proper one.

Please do not make one without my permission, thanks.

please do not copy any ideas portrayed in this reference without my written permission or use this artwork anywhere else, thank you

Awhh, not all dragons are brave ^^'
I will be able to to write you a note concerning the world etc, you can find writings about it throughout my gallery but I think it may take some time to get a real idea of the setting, so if you like I can write you some of the basic story ideas? ^^
Generally an Alliance is only with a 'lesser' animal, so one less intelligent as they are (razors are not as intelligent as humans, but the can learn to talk slightly, but usually not full sentences, they just state things like "wants fish" "cold" or "hot") BUT the whole setting revolve around what are called the phasma, phasma possess animals at birth, including dragons, and change their intelligence with age. So a phasma-razorwing would be a fully intelligent being and therefore the Alliance may be of a higher set of creatures (including humans/vrenyans/ and other dragons)

Now that I think of it... I might be more interested in hearing ways of how one could end up in a different world/universe, it feels kinda unhandy to have all my characters in one world and just one in a different one, making it end up that I feel like I can't really make stories for that character. Although, hearing about the original setting might be handy to create an accurate history for the character.
Ooohh phasma's sound interesting, but, other than the change in intelligence, would the one possesed know that they were possesed or would it more be like "Oh hey I'm more intelligent than everyone for some reason? Well ok"?

Sure, theres a few reasons one could happen to be in another universe/setting etc. I understand that it is annoying to have a character in another universe with completely different rules etc, I have on where the original owner has forbidden anyone to make one in another world and it is kinda tricky :/
I'll note you regarding this

As for the phasma, I'm not usually going to allow someone to make a phasma-razorwing as they actually can evolve differences which are not flowing with the speciesΒ  (for example, Veparaeansu was born a dog-type creature, and later evolved into her current form of a hexapedal lung dragon-like thing). Well thats a good question ^^ usually a phasma-type will not know they are such a creature, as memory/experience are something only held in a physical body with a brain and a phasma, before possessing an animal, is NOT physical and therefore will not remember any experiences from their former life in Panangaeya. Although there are the odd exception which I won't go into, which may enable an animal to recognise they are a phasma-type. Other than that a phasma will probably start to 'wake up' to the fact they are different later on when they develop differences which are alien to their original species. Hope that makes sense ^^'

I get the feeling of species creators that forbid it though, they want control over the species because they wan't no one to get them wrong in any way. I usually try to avoid those species though, since it just feels like you can't bring any purpose to the character since it will just be there.... but can't do anything...........Β

Alright! c:

Another question, how would an Alliance with for example a species of birds of prey (like eagles) affect the Razorwing?

Yea, I can understand it. I'm purposefully not doing though as I know how annoying it is for other people! I just LOVE some species out there which are DO NOT TOUCH, THEY ARE CLOSED! And I'm just like...really thats completely over the top, and it will only make people want to COPY the design as they cannot make one themselves!

Well I have given an example of a phoenix in the reference effecting a razor's 'gift' to fire type. A razor may pick up a completely different gift and even a rare one depending on what the alliance is of. I think if you chose a rare species of bird then the gift would be rare too. You can choose a real species of bird, or give one of your own worlds species yourself (I mean, it actually doesnt HAVE to be a bird, it just usually is with dragons). The way I would tell what type of gift a dragon may have which is determined by their alliance would depend on traits/characteristics. fire and phoenix's is pretty obvious, but for instance a crow may not be so obvious what gift they grant, but look into the species and see what they are good at, crows are very intelligent and therefore will grand a gift of knowledge/wisdom (although, bare in mind the creature of alliance may NOT always sway a razors gift so much, they may be born with a gift of flight, but just because their alliance may happen to be a dog does not mean their gift will change to running whether an alliance will change the razors original gift is up to you! and in some few cases the razor may even keep the original gift AND gain a new one giving them two!)

All in all I've always seen so much more drama around closed species whether it was just whiny people or people copying/stealing the ideas, or just too many people going around the species. While with open species, everything seems to be calmer and people are less likely to copy the idea, as they can just make one of their own and be happy with that. But people still think everything is the other way around and that there is more drama around open ones than around closed ones, which is wrong....

Ok ;v; So I could also give the Razor an alliance with a species of my world as long as it's "lesser" than the Razor?
And how rare would it be for a Razor to keep its original gift and still be able to gain a new one? And how would that affect the color of its soul-stone(s)?

Sezaii In reply to Aymea [2014-10-13 18:10:01 +0000 UTC]

I couldn't agree more! And I KNOW how it feels to see such a nice species which is closed...really its so hard NOT to copy, whether you mean it or not theres a part of that design that sticks with you and it may just come out in your own drawings unintentionally. But of course then there are those annoying copy-cats that love to just copy others designs regardless of open or close yes, you know who you are -_-

I would be perfectly fine with that ^^ well rare is rare, lol. But if you would like to have this double-gift I'm happy with you having it (really, i'm not strict as long as you keep to the main rules ) Well the stone would then change colour when either gift is 'in use'. I have put in the description that there are no elements that are breathed by the species, which is correct, but an alliance can actually change that and with a fire-gift (so a phoenix alliance) a razor may master it and later be able to breathe fire, but its again, quite rare for a breath to be mastered! Usually a fire gift would only enable a razor to have certain control over that element, so fire for instance they would have a certain tolerance against the burns/ perhaps be able to summon fire / or control it, but not until they are a master can they actually breathe fire. Same goes for other elements, but a 'gift' is not always a traditional element, as I've said before it may be speed, flight or even wisdom ^^

One of the most dramatic copy examples could be the Koltherians, an INTENDED rip-off of MTTs....

Ahh I'm beginning to love the razors more and more ;v; They are so thought out and original hnnn
I still yet have to design one to begin thinking of their gifts though... it sounds like a hard choice to make

Ahaha, I can't bare that species, SO overrated, and really quite boring and nothing original about them XD So funny you should say that lol

Naw <3 I'm glad you do, and I'm really happy you think they are original. I had a good idea the wings would be one of a kind, ive never seen any completely scaled wing designs here before, but then didn't really think anything else about them was original at all...but I made them this typical quadruped dragon way as they are becoming less and less now, raptors all seem to be the rage at the moment and poor westerns get left behind :c
Yea the gifts are really what makes them as a species special out of the rest of mine, I think lining the colouration up may give you a few options of the gift too as they often match ^^ But theres no colour limits with these dudes so really you can experiment (as long as they aren't rainbow coloured XD)

My "I like it" opinion kinda has a huge range xD But mostly I just like their community and sorta wanna be part (IGNORING the dramatic people, there are a lot of nice people in it)

I think there really should be coming more western species nowadays or just characters in general, westerns shall always be my favorites of any dragon c:
I'd never want a rainbow chara lol, unless it was some sort of joke character xD

wow... scaley wings!!!Β  Β
Love this design so much!

If Acorn where to meet an aggro razorwing she'd be like "nope!nope!nope! ... noooooope!" and run away XD

Ahah XD I guess there could be alot of accidents involved with those wings, especially a clumsy one! Sigma- "hey Acorn, wha-*opens wings to hug her* t's up...*shhnnn*, oppps, sure that arm wasn't detached from your body beforeand..." XD

Oh my gaawwwddd these are amazing! I totally want one now, haha! xD

Only problem is, 98% of my characters end up being role-played on my forum . ;w; It doesn't feel right to have a character and not use 'em! If I made one and gave all the proper credits and such, would that be alright? It'd be referred to as a really scaley western there. :3

Β If not, that's totally fine! I'll just stick it in with the look-but-don't-touch original species here on dA. I have a buttload of 'em that I go drool over every once in a while. xD

Why thank you ^^

Of course I would prefer if you did draw one at least once to show the design, but after that I guess I'm perfectly happy with you role-playing with one! A sideview would be fine, I don't mean a whole reference sheet ^^' Oh really they aren't 'do not touch', but it would be much nicer if you were to draw a design and THEN roleplay so people can relate the design to me you see so its up to you!

That's what I planned to do :3 I did something similar with Metal's awesome Elemental dragon species here:

Though since she had a full lineart to use, I made a complete ref (though it has BTACD info on it, haha!).

I'll see if I can find some time to sketch something out and toss at you this afternoon!

Sezaii In reply to Verridith [2014-10-11 18:39:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh ok, well I guess I'm fine with that then. I was considering drawing a sideview lineart for people to use if they jst want to colour it in as a character, so if you like you could wait until I do that? (thats a lovely ref sheet btw ^^, very colourful!) But I think sideview of your own art would be nicer so its up to you It would be lovely to see you design one, I guess you would be officially the first to make one which is nice ^^
