I really just wanted to paint something and I had gotten this idea of a very specific kind of shatter effect so I decided to test it out. I recorded the process because why not! Quick paintings like this are easy to edit and I figure that this kind of experiment might be interesting for you to see. The first attempt on the video failed, sort of. It turned out too chaotic but I got the desired effect so after learning how to do it I did it properly the next time. Figuring out how to do the shatter effect ended up taking half of the time I spent on this.

this shatter effect really reminds me of how the world falls apart at the end of the Neverending Story movie, and I feel like I should also know it from a game but I can't quite remember what game that would be. I've always loved that effect, and it's amazing to see it done so well in a static drawing! great work!
