Description
One of the first things I was taught when I started building hand assets, was to never draw each segment of the fingers and the palm individually. It's a tremendous time-sink, and an absolute pain to animate when that time comes. You're actually better off just making a new drawing, which isn't so bad when you have a guide to help you.Figuring out which shapes to transition to can be a bit of a trial-and-error chore, but hopefully with this chart, I'll be able to take all the guess work out of it. As you can see, there is a star-burst pattern, like four lines intersecting in the middle. Every drawing should be able to transition into it's adjacent drawing.
0FC04 (in the middle) should be able to transition into any of the C02's it's adjacent to. The C02's, however can only reasonably transition into two adjacent C02's, the one adjacent C01, or back to 0FC04. The C01's can also only transition into the two adjacent C01's, the one C03, or back to the one C03. C03's only have the option of moving to the two adjacent C03's or back to the one adjacent C01.
EXAMPLE: So following this guide, you could start off at 0FC04, and move up-and-right diagonally to 3QC02, continue to 3QC01, change direction left to 4BC01, continue left to 5QC01, move up-and-left diagonally to 5QC03, and then move down to 6SC03, finally stopping after turning right at 6SC01.
This Hand shape is in the full open position.
Feel free to use this as a reference for your projects. Even trace it if you want ( tracing DOES help beginners improve). Just remember to credit me in your comments and link back to either this deviation or my account page.
