First of all, I promise the next one will look better
. This was originally several panels showing up through Sauron's betrayal, but they didn't turn out as I envisioned, and Sauron ended up looking like a bug (lol). Anyway, I'm sure you notice a small discrepancy in the number of ponies here and the number of rings forged. I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me for not drawing 19 ponies for this scene 
.The rest of the scenes for the prologue, I'm going to focus on a single panel and doing a really good job on it, instead of planning out multiple panels, rushing through them, and ending up with pictures I'm not 100% satisfied with. Scenes with dialogue will lend themselves much better to a multi-panel format anyways.
I think the next few scenes, depicting the battle at Mt. Doom, are shaping up really well, and I'm very excited to finish those. I've got a pony in mind for Isildur who I think would be just daring enough to cut the ring from Sauron's finger.
Oh, and if you noticed my shameless recreation of the background wall from S1 E2, I'm going to avoid that in the future. I was just desperate for any background that wasn't a flat black square, lol. That may have worked in the movie, but it just wasn't cutting it for the picture.

Princess Luna - Witch-King (or Queen) of Angmar - as the Witch-King is the leader of the Nazgul, who are Men, Luna should not be among these Elves.

pony between him and "Lyradriel" - Celebrimbor (the Elf who made the Rings of Power), with a fan-work Fourth Elvish Ring
Alternatively, I might interpret Princess Luna to be Cirdan the Shipwright, who builds ships to help the Elves of Middle Earth return through the Straight Road back to Aman.

Lyra is Galadriel, Luna is the future leader of the Nazgul, the pony next to her is her second-in-command (Khamul), and the pony in back is one of the dwarf lords.

Seriously everytime I check up on this project you have done something new to show just how perfect this crossover could be. Its like seeing the extended version of LOTRO and noticing all the parts put back in the film that you would have put there yourself if you'd had the chance to direct it.

Thanks a ton! I'm actually a little surprised at how well Lyra seems to have been received as Galadriel. I know there were quite a few people who suggested/were hoping that Celestia would play the part. I originally planned to use Celestia too, but I realized I needed her for another role. And also, I think Bon Bon will make an excellent Celeborn.

Well technically the elves made their rings on their own, they weren't given to them by Sauron. Still, it gets the point across and looks really good. Keep it up.

The Elves did make the Rings, but with the exception of the Three Rings - the ones borne by Galadriel, Gil-Galad (and later, Elrond), and Cirdan (and later, Gandalf) - Sauron, disguised as a messenger from the Valar, actively participated in the forging of all the Great Rings of Power; that is why he was able to easily corrupt the other Rings (like the ones he gave to the eventual Ringwraiths).

As long as that black-maned pony in this picture is a Pegasus (can't tell for sure), that description you typed could actually fit the situation here, because if we go only by completely canon information, Alicorns are just known as overpowered Unicorns or Pegasi; as of now, Hasbro doesn't use the term "Alicorn" yet (with the exception of one storyboard artist), instead calling them "Unicorns", "Winged Unicorns", or "Pegasus Unicorns", the latter of which fits with the whole thing you wrote.
PS: Oh, I forgot about Fluttershy (a Pegasus) portraying one of the Dwarves, and Applejack (an Earth-pony) playing one of the Humans. Oh well... xD

I assume the pony in boots is one of the Seven Dwarf-Lords... which leaves the pony with the black mane. Judging by the similarity of his Ring to that that Luna has here, I'd say he is going to become another one of the Nazgûl? Perhaps the Witch-King/Queen's second-in-command, Khamûl the Easterling (the only Nazgûl whose name is mentioned by Tolkien)?
Also, wondering if you'll show the Nazgûl's participation in the seven-year battle and siege at the Dark Tower/Mount Doom, since they had been around in Wraith-form for nearly 1200 years by that point.
Anyways, that's all for now. Keep this up, I'm loving every bit of it!

Yeah, the two in back I just used generic background ponies for. I remembered that the Witch King (Queen) had a second-in-command (didn't realize he was named though; you've always got a bit of new LotR lore for me
I hadn't thought to include the Wraiths in the battle at Mt. Doom, but now that you bring it up, it could be pretty interesting to have Elrond/Octavia battling one in the background as Sauron is slaying Elendil. On that note, I'm not sure how I'm going to work in all the big players in the battle with Sauron. I need to go do a little research, but I seem to remember Gil-galad fighting him, and at least one more guy. I have a rough sketch of what I want the "Elendil Struck Down" scene to look like, and right now it's looking like a 1v1 duel between Sauron and Elendil

Sorry unicorns, couldn't fit you in it. And I'm not sure that Discord is indeed Sauron (but it fits the best).
Another reason that the Pegasai are the humans and not the Unicorns is because that the Nazgûl are much more frightening if they can fly without the Nazgûl-birds. The rings would give them magic...

No, I think the Three Rings belong to the unicorns. And Nightmare Moon is Sauron, since Discord fits Morgoth much better in my opinion (particularly if the Nightmare is part of Discord's magic). Celestia is Manwe (and alicorns are the Ainur), and Empress Lauren is Eru Iluvatar, the Creator and source of the Harmony of the world.
