History:

Born and raised as a member of a noble family in the hidden city of Twilight Abyss, which lies within the Labyrinth of Thorns located on Kartha, Lucien and his younger siblings grew up rather sheltered from the rest of the world, receiving education from their parents and the three courts that rule over the city. When he turned 21, Lucien chose to join the Court of Minddistorters, devotees of Xaos, the god of discord. By studying their teachings, fulfilling their tasks and succeeding in court internal tournaments, he eventually raised in rank and was raised in the state of Discord Warden - the second highest rank.

To honor the god of discord, every Warden forms a bond with a creature of chaos to become one with the great pandemonium of life and death.

Usually the bond is formed with rather mindless and weak willed creatures whose personality will be devoured and eliminated by the stronger Warden, but not all creatures are like that. And so it happened that Lucien forged a bond with a chaotic creature whose mind was as strong as his own.

In the beginning it almost drove him mad, constantly hearing the voice of the creature inside his head, demanding to gain control over Lucien's body and mind but the elf was not willing to give up. Eventually they came to a conclusion: Lucien would share his body with the creature named Marduk and they would switch positions every now and then when Lucien saw it fit. Marduk accepted the deal, knowing that they would not be able to agree on more favorable terms for him.

For 8 years now Lucien shares his body with the chaotic Marduk, mostly wearing an eye patch on either the left or the right eye to silence either himself or his inner demon.

Recently he tries to take the eye patch off every once in a while to become truly one with Marduk and his chaos.

Personality:

Lucien's personality is hard to describe since he's literally three persons in one body, resulting others to think of him having a huge mental disorder.

To keep his three personalities apart, he introduces himself either as Lucien (his original personality), Marduk (the chaos demon) or Aequitas (Lucien and Marduk at the same time).

Lucien:

Most court members would describe him as cold and aloof since he doesn't talk much and avoids social interactions. In truth Lucien is just very picky about the people he decides to trust and thus doesn't care much about others. His younger siblings though are the world to him and he'd do everything to keep them safe from harm.

Marduk:

The very reverse of Lucien. Marduk is outgoing, mischievous, flirtatious and talks with a silver tongue to get what he wants. He has no respect for anyone or anything and spreads havoc where ever he can. In contrary to Lucien, Marduk has no honor and cheats as soon as there's an opportunity to play unfair.

Aequitas:

The combined personality of Lucien and Marduk. Aequitas is the embodiment of all good and bad characteristics of the two beings that used to suppress each other. He's neutral towards everything and faces each situation with a calm and calculating mind but is ready to play dirty if necessary and can relish himself in the agony of his enemies like Marduk, yet he can be kind and gentle like Lucien.

Abilities:

Personality Switch:

Lucien is able to switch personalities back and forth but doing so doesn't come without a price. Each time he switches, the personality that takes over needs to adjust to the current situation first before any action can be made. This causes more trouble than it helps since the now active personality was in a state of utter blindness to the world, sleeping in complete isolation and unaware of everything that had happened.

Thus it is not wise for Lucien and Marduk to switch places in a fight or during important conversation - it would be the worst thing they could do.

Switching to Aequitas would be an exception since the former active personality would still remain, fusing with the second one but becoming Aequitas is still difficult and causes a terrible headache after only a few moments.

At the current time, Lucien and Marduk can keep their combined personality up to a few minutes before they need to switch to only one personality.

Since the personality switch doesn't just influence the behavior of the character, you'll clearly recognize during a fight if you face Lucien, the demon or both of them at the same time.

Lucien:

Lucien is a pure fighter - even though he is capable of using magic in theory, he never really trained to use it effectively during a fight and thus is unable to gain access to magical spells.

Lucien prefers to fight with his rapier, using fast attacks with average damage. He's trained to be able to hold himself up against more than one enemy and possesses an average level of strength and endurance.

Marduk:

In contrary to Lucien, Marduk cannot fight with any kind of weapon. He relies entirely on his magic and focuses on dirty tricks. His specialties are chaos spells that influence the visual perception of a being, effects reaching from a distorted field of view to hallucinations.
However, he is also capable of disturbing the magical flow of other beings by using his own chaos to "manipulate" the core element of his opponents, switching it to the element of chaos. Depending on how strongly one is depending on magic or affected by it, Marduk's chaos "poisons" body and mind and can leave the person unable to use magic for a longer or shorter while, though the chaos itself doesn't cause any damage at all. It simply affects one's ability to access magic and use spells. How strong one is affected by Marduk's chaos and its effects depends on the person itself though and cannot be generalized.

Since Marduk is some kind of a coward, he mainly uses his spells to distract his opponents to escape.

Aequitas:

Jack of all trades, master of none. Again Aequitas combines the two different abilities of Lucien and Marduk, enabling him to use a rapier as well as using spells but both only at a very basic level. He cannot defend himself well with his magic, neither can he attack as swift and precise as Lucien, but it is enough to not die immediately. In contrary to Marduk however, Aequitas uses his magic to attack and not to flee.
