Description
The Space Alliance Treaty Organisation, or SATO, can find its origins in the early 23rd/late 22nd centuries, as NATO (North Atlantic Treaty organisation) was going through a rename and transferring into space, no longer just applying to Earth. SATO still has som of the major players in old NATO: The United Space States of America, Terran Colonial Systems Republic (formerly the majority of the EU), Ukraine and the Germanic Fourth Republic. SATO also has several smaller members, including the Republic of New Columbia, Zen'tekan Colonial Union (an entity outside of the UN, but joined SATO), Vandar Confederacy and the Confederate States of Pholicias, the Pholicans's home nation.

SATO doesn't have as large a military as the United Nations Defence Command, nor as many numbers but SATO can fend for itself and its members. Most of its infantry come from the USSA due to the job application crisis the government has profited from for almost a century, but multiple naval assets come from different nations, same goes for tanks, APCs and IFVs. This has lead to multiple different designs with different kinds of doctrines ending up in the SATO military, although efforts to standardise have been made, mostly by the Vandar Confederacy with their surplus Illuminate vessels and some of their own domestically manufactured designs. SATO does have standard infantry equipment and armour, with variants meeting the needs of different species.

With the recent outbreak of the Zordar Civil War in 2859, SATO has extended its hand in order to partake in the conflict, siding with the Torvan faction and the UNDC against the Tridak Directorate and the Zorvak Faction. Although SATO hasn't played a very important role yet, they have participated in some of the most important battles early on in the war.
