Description
*sighs in light frustration* Even WITH reference, Violet still looks somewhat like my older sister. Oh, well. Somehow she always sneaks in when I draw the girl. -__- C'est la vie.Anyway! My roommate once signed up for a serious of magazines (which is a real pain, to be honest) and most of them she throws away. But there are a few we actually enjoy reading (Ladies Home Journal, the Ensign, of course.
Elle, Elle Decor (I think that's the name. *scratches head*), and House Beautiful.
The former we keep for a short time so that I can rip out pages for art models and reference, the last two so that I can create pleasing color schemes and make realistic fictional rooms. (Yes, each building and room in Icarus is elaborately planned out. No joke.
This scene is based off an image found in the Elle magazine for the new movie, "Black Swan," dealing with the ballet "Swan Lake," with Natalie Portman brilliantly playing as both the White Swan and the Swan Queen. [link] and [link]
I couldn't find the original photo reference, but did my best with some posters.
But alas. *shrugs* Such is life. I'll have to settle for the beautifully stark, and alternately graceful graphic designs of the posters, which bring to mind German war posters while also conveying innocence being torn in half.
Very nicely done. The storyline, as far as I'm aware, really struck home in regards to the similarity of some darker Synlet stories, as well. Which definitely hooked my interest.
*coughs*
Anyway, Syndrome and Violet belong to Brad Bird/Disney, and the overall design comes from the Black Swan. Fin.

Me too, me too! ^^ And realistic is hard to do with Syndrome, so I'm happy that I actually pulled it off. Even with the huge forehead and hair, still.

Oh, man. I've never even TRIED realistic with him because that gigantic chin... is gigantic. My mom theorized that he's somehow related to Jay Leno.

I came to that same conclusion! Or the guy that one of the main character girls in Bicentenial Man almost married--they even make reference to his chin sinking ships! XD
Naw, the best way to deal with it is to just find a similarly strong-featured model and then roll along with slight downsizing. *shrugs*

Well by that I meant they don't have flat ones like he does.

Thank you. <3 It's actually what I loved most about the original photograph--the sheer amount of emotional tension going on between the two characters. And I fought really hard to capture that, so I'm glad it worked out okay. ^^
Thanks for the lovely compliment!

Thank you very much! And I've always enjoyed working from a model, which is what made this such a pleasant change of pace. I'm probably going to try and so some more poses from magazine shots, too, which will be nice. *nods*
