By adding texture layers over the top with the layer blending mode set to "overlay", then masking away the access, flattening and painting in my darkest shadows and edge highlights on top. Hope that answers your question.

Not at all, always happy to share

It's been a while ago since I painted this but judging from the strokes I probably used a chalk mark shaped brush with pressure sensitivity set for flow control. I might have used a soft round as well by the look of it.
