yes it's true - there is sadness in his eye - I think he's afraid of his own rage, and thi makes him frail and... yes, somehow cute - I'm so happy you caught this aspect!!!

...as I said somewhere else here in dA, it takes a pro to deal with these babies...
...but I have years and years of acquaintance with them - I can tame them up to the
point of twisting them into.... deviations!

or... deep down to the extreme of the fractal image?
or depth in colours and details?
if it's the third one (as I suppose), I set gamma to 1, reduced brightness to the lowest (0.35, if I remember well) and browsed endlessly through gradients (using some of my images also) - then brightened and contrasted it in PS
....mmmh, you are pulling out all my secrets from me...

...I'm also glad you don't see creatures like these in your dreams - you see, it takes a pro to face and sustain them!
I'm quite pleased with colours, too - I started from a fractal, but I had to work on it
choosing the right dim and gamma and color palette soo long before even starting to think
how to paint it...
