Cute picture...only problem is flamingos have very wide wing span. They need big wings to get that beak off the ground. Hope you're thinking of adding more birds...that one looks abandoned...poor baby.
Great work, scenes are really hard!

I think "cute picture" pretty much says it. Not a lot of realism here.....just a cute pic.
The original had some ducks in it. But they really looked sad, so I took them out.

All it needs are more vines on the tree(fill it in more) and more vegetation in the foreground. Try a stalk formula with a gnarl oca. Don't know if it would work right, but it's the only thing I can think of at this point. The bacground and the tree are fantastic though.
You'll get votes...a lot of people like "cute"! I think your only competition at this point is Silwenka. Lots of drama in that one.
Sad ducks? hmmm don't think I've ever seen one of those.

That's impressive what you can do with only gnarls formulas and a lot of imagination !

I love the idea, I find it anyhow cute and it makes me smiling. You have said, you are not really happy with it, but not why. Just as little I don't know your intention, your plan and I also don't know whether comments are welcome. But you have written: 'WIP', therefore I will say you what I see and what I would do if I would work on this image. I see a flamingo who looks lonesome anyhow, maybe because he stands alone in the rain. I see the mist in the horizon which sometimes originates if the sun and rain appear as concurrent. I see the sunrays which break by the clouds and the tracks which the raindrops leave in the water. I like all these details and the sky especially. The light is great, exactly properly for this situation. I like the way how you have shown/realised the tree: the fact that only one part of it visible is, the pendulous branches and the bark. However, I would not bring out the leaves so plastically, I would try to form them more flat/plain. I suppose, you were not ready with the area in the foreground yet, right? OK, this image make me smiling because of the colours; the pink and the green are too heavy to me personally, they are like colours for toys, I think. I say for it always, the colours squeak. But as you know, I have an own contract with colours. I think, you should work anyway further on it and I'll look at the params.

>>>You have said, you are not really happy with it, but not why<<<
I did not finish the fine details because of the contest deadline. I really need another week for this, but I'm going to lay it down for now.

See above comment.

Should have seen it when I had ducks in it, it really sucked, lol...
Thanks for the kind words though, you got the gist of what I was trying to do.

You're very welcome.
I have forgotten completely to mention what I like at your flamingo particularly: the spread wing.

It was a brain bender, no doubt. The fun part was finding shapes that would work for what I wanted.

Magnificent demonstration of the versatility of UF, and a very nice picture. Certainly a victory for intent over chance here! I do especially like the gnarly hanging branches and leaves.
