this tutorial... is the most helpful tutorial on smooth lines I have ever seen! but.. one question.. i wanted to quit the pen tool thingy to take a look how the lineart looks and I clicked away on the canvas (liek i do with the lasso tool) and the pentool followed o-o how can I quit the pentool?

Pen tool shapes have their own "layers" called paths. They work much like layers, you can select/deselect them to hide them without them disappearing.
