First thing I did successfully. I believe Tress Mcneille still has her copy [she did the voice]. Disney is doing a new series of DuckTales this year. I'm not sure how they're going to approach it artistically.

Oh, none of the people I knew work for Disney any more. Doubtful.

This is amazing! It really looks like an official, professionally made piece of merchandise.

I can't imagine how fragile her tail is. Very cute sculpture! Is this clay?

sharpenr In reply to TheArtisticPony [2013-06-15 00:02:13 +0000 UTC]
It's a resin copy of the original I did. When I made the tails, I simply shaped very thin piano wire as the core of the mold, then injected the resin into the mold with the wire sticking out. A
little sanding and paint did the rest. Thank you so much for the watch and all of the faves on Amy, LenoreKitty, Shinxy, Roxanne, and Gadget!

Love your work!!! All the figures look lively and high quality!
When you pain them, do you paint it by hand or do you use the airbrush?

sharpenr In reply to GantzAistar [2013-05-30 01:46:16 +0000 UTC]
I use Testors Acryl water based paints. They are all hand painted, but the paints always lay flat and smooth. The paints can be used in an airbrush, but I have to admit that I've never been able to control one well. Thank you so much for all of the faces on Amy, Kat, Sphinxy, and Gadget. Also thank you for the watch too!!

Thanks for the answer! I want to try to repaint dolls and toys, so I look around for help before I mess anything up. I bought the Tamiya acrylics, who are also very soft and liquid.

Seems to me that they dry a little bit too quickly, which is why I switched to the Acryl line. Unfortunately only a really well stocked hobby store tends to stock them. You're welcome!

I noticed too that they dry very fast, but so far it was no problem for me, since I have painted small areas. But I will check into the brand you mentioned, in case it doesn't work good on large areas.

Nicely done, do you sell these, or is that against the Disney Commandments?

I don't sell them, don't have permission, but a bunch of friends got copies. Thank you!

Brilliant paint job. I even get a kick out of how her eyebrows and lashes match her hair. Wish I could hire you to repaint the figurine of her I used as a key chain for a decade XD (cheaper to buy an unopened one sure, but memories and all that sentimental stuff, not everything can be pulled out of a cereal box from '91). And now I'm rambling, but I mean well! I swear(lol)!
Ignore me whilst I check out the rest of your gallery.

Painting is the icing that makes all of this come to life. Most people see the sculpt and think "it's O.K." But the paint makes it live and breathe, so yes I spend a lot of time mixing paints so the effect is there. Thank you!

Yes, I just found one the right size for the cog and glued it on. Never sculpt what you can get for real, unless your creating a different artistic style!

Wow your models are amazing I'm just wondering, do you take commissions? I was trying to look for that answer in your gallery but I can't see it anywhere

Thank you so much for the compliment! I wish I could take commissions, but I've been spending the last few years catching up on other peoples work, and want to do some of my own characters. Just keep working on your own sculpts, it just takes time to improve!

Thank You! I use Testor's Model Master Acryl paints. They're found at really good hobby stores, and I usually stock up on them because they are a little hard to keep in stock. I like them because they can be painted with a brush, but come out perfectly flat. Touch ups don't "stand out" like a lot of other paints. I top it off with Acryl Dullcoat, Semigloss, and/or Glosscoat [for eyes and shiney areas] to seal it and give it a finished tone.
