Well it can be interpreted any way you like. The image is supposed to be unsettling because the motivation for making was darker than the final concept. It was originally supposed to be a statement on popular culture's approach to disability; where we might schedule aggressive surgeries to 'fix' people who we see disabled, rather than allowing them to be happy as they are. The rampant human idea of perfection juxtaposed onto a pony, if you will, but the whole thing was way too complicated to do in one image so i settled for a simple wing surgery with a darker tone.
Frankly I can get tired of all the grim-dark. If pony fans were to be believed every-pony would be a psychopath with a supernatural understanding of anatomy and mastery of disguise. It has its place, but hot damn.

Sorry if I jump the gun with my last comment. I was a meet up, and it was full of fanfic writers. So my mind set was on dark stuff before hand.
I not think she would go with it. At the end of ep. 70. She seem fine with her wings.
