Ceph is something of a prep and a hipster rolled together, though which one he is more of is hard to determine. He is very social and finds it easy to chat and get along with strangers-- part of that probably comes from the fact that he likes attention. However, just because he's easy to talk to doesn't necessarily mean he's easy to get along with. Ceph is very opinionated and he has no problem letting others know just what he thinks about any given thing, whether it be music, fashion, sports, or the like. He considers himself an inkling of great taste, so naturally his opinion on anything is worth listening to. While this makes him seem generally arrogant (which he is, for sure) Ceph's passion rings true, and the things he cares about he cares about deeply. He is an inkling of fire and zeal.

Ceph's greatest fault is probably his competitive spirit. Ceph practically lives for winning. He'll even turn casual things into games or competitions if others will let him. He's also a very sore loser and will glower for a while after such an incident, raining on the parade until he finally gets over it. He is capable of curbing that behavior, the question is whether or not he will. Usually his friends have to steer him in that direction rather than hoping he'll do it on his own.

One thing Ceph tries to keep to himself is his penchant for perfectionism-- though how well he does that is debatable. When he commits to being good at something, he wants to be the best at it (goes with winning, you know?) He'll put in hours of practice and work himself to the bone to try and be better if he has to. Sometimes this leads to him being pretty hard on himself, but he does his best not to let others see that. Ceph's tendency to hold himself to such a high standard also causes him to hold others to the same level, which can cause tension between him and those facing his scrutiny.
HISTORY:
Ceph was born and raised in Rio Tokiyaki, living the entirety of his life between a three bedroom apartment and the family convenience store. He came along nine years after his brother, Leopold, a complete surprise for his parents. As a result, though, he got to grow up admiring Leo's startup battler career, kindling in him his own dream. Not only did Ceph want to be a battler like his brother, but a better one.

That was Ceph's one and only goal all through his childhood, and the reason for his competitive spirit. When he was younger he even daydreamed about going against his brother in the professioinal circuit, but Leo suffered an injury that ended his career just a couple years after it began, when Ceph was still in middle school. After recovering, Leopold enrolled in college, and he gave his Splattershot Jr. to his parents to serve as the ranked trophies he'd never receive. When Leopold left home, they gave it to Ceph. "For the future," they said. Ceph treasured that gun, putting it on display on a shelf in his room until he finally hit the minimum age to compete in the after-school turf leagues. When he tried out, he used his brother's Splattershot. He was (really) disappointed to discover he didn't have the same level of natural talent Leopold did when he started learning to turf, but his perfectionist attitude quickly saw to that and he devoted all his free time to practicing.

It wasn't until high school that Ceph finally started to diversify his interests, discovering his passion for music and curating his fashion sense. He became more social, expanding his list of after-school friends to more than just "kids I tried to smear across the turf." He even, briefly, turned some of his attention to trying to learn how to mix music, but that chapter of his life was very short lived, as he couldn't get a handle on it and grew too frustrated to keep trying. Leopold, who'd grown busy in his adult life and hadn't had as much time to see his parents or sibling, started trying to make time now that Ceph's future was actually on the horizon. While their parents supported Ceph's desire to be a professional battler, Leo wanted to see his younger brother go to college. He couldn't shake the worry that Ceph would suffer the same fate as him and was more afraid of seeing what would happen to his brother if his dream was snuffed out in its prime rather than just... given up before it started. Ceph's passion was so strong and had such a tight grip on his heart that Leo was certain if such a thing happened to him it would just destroy him. Ceph wouldn't have any of it, though, and Leo's insistence only caused a distance to form between them. Though Ceph would never admit it, he lost a lot of the admiration he felt for his older brother when he stepped down from the circuit to be a mild-mannered accountant. In the back of his mind he even wondered if part of Leo's motivation to convince him to quit was a desire not to see his younger brother surpass him in a field he used to be so skilled at.

High school came and went, and Ceph never gave in to his brother's desires. Their relationship became strained as Ceph started to suspect his brother of more ulterior motives, which he also never voiced. By the time he graduated, they only saw each other at family functions. Ceph used the money he accumulated from graduation gifts to buy a new Splattershot, giving his brother's back over to their parents. They, at least, were still supportive of his dream.

Ceph dove full force into his pro battler career the moment it began. He amped up his already prolific social media, trying to get his face-- and his skill-- out there to attract potential teams. His reputation from the after-school circuit preceded him and he got scooped up pretty quickly. However, he soon discovered that, unlike the after-school leagues where his teammates often put up with his attitude because he was good, his skill level wasn't enough to keep him around when his competitive and arrogant nature didn't play well with the full-time squad.

That was the story with every team Ceph joined, and where we find him now. He uses the time between groups to be a pickup player and a sub, hoping that soon he'll finally find a squad he clicks with. In the meantime, life is just Splatnet, convenience store shifts, weekends at the beach, and practice, practice, practice.
