Description
This piece was started digitally at 8:00 am this morning and finished at 10:16 pm. This is the first time that I started and finished a piece with only bathroom and food breaks.I do not recomend it for the weak of heart
This piece is actually dedicated and for Kris of explosm. I told him I would return the favor for him exposing me to so many people.
This piece is meant to represent the calmness that water brings us and that it has the ability to crush us with it's power. Without water, we do not exist, and this is also my way of showing appreciation for this nonliving entity.

Oh my.
That skull-like portion could look so stylized and clichΓ© had it been done differently, but the way it is is so amazingly creepy and NON-clichΓ© that I can't stop staring at it! (I keep scrolling up while making this comment, no lie...)
The textures on that head part and the tentacles are just awesome, and really give such a feeling to this, a LIFE to it, which I'm guessing is just what you desired, given your description.
The trailing designs up from the creature add so much to this both in an aesthetic sense as well as just a personality/mood way. The breaking apart person also just draws the eye and provides a movement for the piece, and carries with it more meaning.
The creature itself would be intriguing, but adding the humanity makes this something to be digested, thought about, and moved by.
The lighting on those pieces as well is very well done, almost making lines, yet still allowing the pieces to appear in 3D and in keeping with the rest of the image.
Saw this in *kris-wilson 's journal, and I hope you get the exposure you rightly deserve for this effort!!

Damn, it's nice to see someone so in tune with art and also be able to express exactly why you like it. You have made my day and it means so much to me that you took the time to describe your feelings about this piece.

Haha... you're right, I do like your style. And this image is probably my favourite in your gallery - that I've seen so far - I particularly love the lighting technique you used, and I dig the colour.
Although this image is very well suited to the concept you had in mind, in my mind this image has several different meanings to it. I like the pencil-drawn style mixed with digital colouring, it works well here. I als happen to think that it'd make a decent t-shirt design (I love black t-shirts).

It does have a Lovecraftian esque about it, but if you're going by how Cthulhu was originally described, it's lacking in a few very important details.
