Description As usual, I'm using the moniker Shay for my newest D&D character.  Shay was my Cid during my DMing days, showing up in each of my campaigns, each time a different incarnation.

This newest Shay is a curious case!  From a noble family, Shay and his younger brother Hyun found their relationship strained as their father grew ill, and talks of succession began.  Elves are a long-lived sort, and for some time Hyun was left in Shay's shadow.  The idea of his sudden rise to Lord was a catalyst for the slow build of animosity.  Hyun formed a sinister plot to remove his brother from the equation.  So, on one fateful day while Shay was traveling in his father's stead for diplomatic talks with other's in the region, his cart was besieged by bandits shortly before arriving back to the city.  Shay and his guard were no match, and were quickly captured.

However, Hyun was not plotting on orcs.  They had caught wind of the unusual movement of manfolk, and thought of them as a military regiment trekking from the city.  Ambushing them, the bandits as well as Shay and his guard met their end.  During the battle, Shay managed to free himself from his original captors bonds and attempt an escape.  As he made his way through the wood, he caught eye of another group of travelers making their way through the forest.   Not wishing to involve them, he turned from the road and perhaps some manner of safety and fled out into the wilds.  It was only a matter of time before he were caught.

He thought it were a dream, as he were roused from a heavy slumber.  The people from which he led the orcs from surrounded him, and his body did not feel the cuts and broken bones he had suffered at the hands of the orcs.   As he looked down to inspect himself, he found why.  His body was not his own.  Those who he led the orcs from were druids, and rewarded his sacrifice on their behalf by restoring him to life.  Their reincarnation spell however left him in the stout body of a female dwarf.  Distraught, he fled the druids and ran into the woods as he had before.  Short legs wouldn't carry him far, and he'd soon collapse in exhaustion, only to be surrounded by the druids once more, offering their sympathy and aid for as long as he needed.

Years passed, and although he never became comfortable with his new body, the druids began to teach him their ways, perhaps one day able to regain his former body.  In exchange, he used their teachings to aid as a healer, his scholarly knowledge of such things being a help to the otherwise primitive druids.  As time passed, orc assaults grew more frequent, and just as his old way of life was threatened, so was his new way.  He would leave the druids, and make his way back to the city and do what he could to see that the woods were more defended.  It was during this journey he came across the battle where he had met his end.  Digging through the bodies for supplies the druids left behind, it was there he found a missive.  From his brother.

Not only must he do what he can to defend those who saved his life, but now he must confront he who ended it.

Yet another dwarf form? Say, does he ever wish that he could take someone else's job, someone from a different world/universe/dimension/etc., and that they would have his job? You know what I mean?

Demon hunter? It doesn't have the same risks as what he normally does (from what I can tell). Plus, it all depends on when and if the Hunter gets called, or if they take jobs posted on the board.
