Description
Traditional mixed-media drawing of some Tulip flowers. I received my new Polychromos, & gave them a try with this drawing. These pencils aren't too bad. ... ...ok, that was an understatement. These pencils are so amazing!! Anyway, this whole color thing is still very new to me, & I haven't got the hang of blending or choosing the right ones yet. It's nowhere near perfect, but this drawing turned out better than I was expecting...Tools: Strathmore Smooth Bristol Paper (drawing size: 4.5x7in.) Faber-Castell Polychromos Color Pencils, Prismacolor pencil, marker, kneaded eraser & Tombow Mono Zero eraser.
Time: 8.5 hours.
Reference found on google...?
Hope you like it!

I think it's very beautiful. I love the rich, velvet color.

This is great for your first attempt with Polychromos! It looks way smoother than your last full color drawing! A little critique: the right stalk looks a bit flat & cut. But the flowers are more important anyway! Your progress is amazing so far! Soon you'll be able to colour skin.
Edit: Front page!

Thank you very much! Well of course it looks smoother! I did the marker trick for the background! You're right, I could've probably added more shadows to that stem (could do it now, but I'm too lazy Lol!). I know! My new pencils are one step close to coloring skin...but I'm still not ready yet.
What? It made the front page? Why didn't I know that?

You're very welcome! I know that you used markers, because I always read descriptions!
Lol! That's my "evil, mischievous and lazy padawan of art"...
Trust in Polychromos you must!
Yes, I saw your drawing on the 4th or 5th place in "popular 8 hours" (7 hours after submitting)!^^

Now I've got to find a way to blend colors smoothly...
You taught me well, my dA teacher!
LOL! Ok, I'll try. But I'm still taking a break from fanart for now.
Yay! I'm so happy!

As I always say: Practice makes perfect!
Hehe. Thanks!
It's not fan art if you draw an actor not in character (his role). So you could still draw Tom!
Lol!

"Practice makes perfect" isn't helping. You're supposed to give tips for blending colors!
Pleasure is mine! Lol!
Ok, just stop it! I draw one flower, & you're already trying to tempt me into drawing Tom again! Do you really think it's working? ... ...oh no, it is working!

Tips for blending... blending doesn't work so well on bristol paper, because you can't add so many layers.
Muahaha! Errr... I mean: Ehehehe!!!

Oh great. But I don't want to buy anything right now... Well, now I want to see a timelapse video from you. I've got to see exactly how you do it!
I'm still going to take a break from portraits for now. Muahaha! Sorry...

I'm currently too lazy to find a program for a timelapse video (/ to edit a 30 hours video). And in Germany we say: "Probieren geht über Studieren!"
Nooooo...

Thanks a lot!
Hehe, I just used the Prismacolor for the background. I used Faber-Castell for the flower, & those are the pencils I'm in love with!

Wow! this is beautiful! The color is so vivid. Is it because of the Polychromos Pencils? I haven't heard of them before.

Thank you! ^^ It may be my scanner too, brightening up the colors, but yes, the vivid colors are from the Polychromos. So far, I'm in love with them!
