Build by Kuat Drive Yards for the Galactic Republic as a counter-insurgency ship in the last years of the Clone Wars. The Design was clerly inspired by some Mon Calamaria refugees and engineers that had fled from their homeworld Dac, now in Confederacy of independent System Space into the Republic. The Nebulon-B Frigates classed out the Class-C frigates and were design to defend convoys against swarms of droid fighters, bombers and minor ships. The Republic design had a cost of 8,500 credits, a length of 300 meters, a width of 72 meters and a height/ dept of 166 meters. The maximal acceleration was 1,200 G, it had a megalight of 40 and a maximum atmospheric speed of 800 km/h. Equipped with Kuat Galaxy-15 ion engines, a Class 2.0 hyperdrive and a class 12 backup hyperdrive, the Nebulon.B had a Serridge SEAL shielding system, enhanced Delphus JC-671 projectors and a deflectorshield that was rated 960 SBD before it’s Titanium-reinforced alloy hull. It’s sensors were Fabritech ANs-9.5w wide range sensor system, while it’s Targeting System was a Plat Dromma targeting computer. Armed with Taim & Bak XI7 turbolaser turrets (12), 6 fore, 3 port and 3 starboard, Light point-defense Borstel RH8 laser cannon turrets (12), 6 fore, 2 port, 2 starboard and 2 aft, Heavy Phylon Q7 tractor beam projectors (2) and a Warhead launcher for Advanced concussion missiles and Torpedoes. It could carry 24 Starfighters and three Shuttles and had a crew of 854 (minimal crew of 307) of which 66 were Gunners and 24 pilots. It could carry 75 additional passengers and troops alongside it’s cargo capacity of 6,000 metric tons and consumables of two years.
The Imperial version was upgraded to a cruiser by adding further weapons up to ultimately Taim & Bak XI7 turbolaser turrets (18), 8 fore, 4 port, 4 starboard and 2 aft, Light point-defense Borstel RH8 laser cannon turrets (24), 12 fore, 4 port, 4 starboard and 4 aft, Heavy Phylon Q7 tractor beam projectors (4) and two Warhead launchers. The Imperial version also could carry 48 TIE Fighters (or a TIE Bomber in exchange for every two TIE fighters) and three Shuttles and had a crew of 963 (minimal crew of 436) of which 132 were Gunners and 48 pilots carried 80 additional troops (either Imperial Marines, Imperial Commando’s Imperial Stormtroopers or a mix of these forces), but could also transport the same number of passengers and troops alongside it’s cargo capacity of 6,000 metric tons and consumables of two years. It had a more darker gray coloreing and had gotten rid of all major Republic insignia by this point. It was clear the Imperial version was tasked more with battl support for other ships or outright punishing rebels, space pirates, smugglers and other criminals and dissidents then the original Republic role of escort and guard patrol duty.
The most different however was the Separatist or Confederate version, which relied heavily on droid forces and automation. With a lack of need for major life supports, more battle droids and droid fighters could fit on the ship, giving it a new role as a small carrier by having nearly 100 droid fighters, Tri-droids, Vulture-droids and others, or Droid gunships and droid bombers for each two droid fighters. With this they hoped to rely on the biggest Separatists advance, massive numbers of starfighters and bombers to swarm and overwhelm the enemy. The battle droid crew also allowed for 20,000 deactivated battle droids to be transported, as well as use some of these as a major boarding and invasion force when needed. Unlike the Empire however who relied on brute force and more weapons, the Separatists relied on irregular warfare, supporting fighters and bombers, as well as an overwhelming number of boarding forces thanks to their battle droids. An advantage that would become a problem during the droid rebellion and uprising, but also prove worthwhile until then in the eyes of many Separatists. Not the only Separatists escort and counter-insurgency ship, it was one of the best and also the start of reopened relations between Kuat and the Confederacy after the Clone Wars had ended in a stalemate with some Separatist member worlds opting to buy and rely on Kuat products, rather then that of the Confederate Conglomerates themselves. Further more some Confederate sympathizers and agents at Kuat actively tried to get the major supporter for the Grand Army of the Republic, the Republic Navy and in it’s split branch the Imperial Army and the Imperial Navy to rejoin forces with the Separatist Alliance, the Confederacy of independent Systems before the at the moment Cold Clone Wars would restart and become hot once more.
