Triton is King of the underwater kingdom Atlantica, and the widowed father of seven daughters (seemingly Septuplets since they do look the same age, obviously). One being the main protagonist of the Disney version. He, like all men, marry for the sake of being men, for respect, worship, praise, and envies. A mix of George Banks and Darling, and the king from Cinderella, demands obedience, order, respect, rules and laws. He at first had unruly hatred of music, humans and their objects fallen into the sea and most of all Ariel's rebellious and childlike behavior.

Triton: I consider myself a reasonable merman. I set certain rules and I expect those rules to be obeyed!

Goofy: That's very understanding, but that doesn't earn you the kind of respect and love you deserve.

Triton: I took an oath to protect my kingdom and do what i think os best for my family.

Goofy: But you should also have to be close to your children, as I'm close to my Maxie.

Triton: My daughters are no longer children. They are full grown, well-behaved, merwomen. Well, most of them at least. But My point is, I love my daughter with all my heart and all i ask for in return is their love for me in return.

Goofy: I want that from my son too. But i can't help still thinking of him as my little boy, no matter how big he's gotten.
