Description This was a pain from start to finish. Yet another thing we did in drawing 2.

You know those pens you use in calligraphy? The ones where you have to dip the pen in a bottle of ink and then write with it? Try drawing with one of those sometime. It's not easy.

The goal of this was to replicate shading and textures by drawing certain patterns with a pen and making them denser in some of the darker spots. We had to draw an entire picture using nothing but these "textures". No outlines. We were also trying to replicate depth by making the textures smaller and less defined as the picture moves into the background. It was highly difficult. It reminded me of how I did stipple art when I was in Drawing 1 class my Freshman year, but ten times harder. Using the weird pens just made it worse.

I'm pretty happy with the way that most of this turned out. There are issues here and there, especially in the middle-ground on the right-hand side, but that ink is permanant, so I can't exactly fix it. You have no idea how much it scared me when the pen caught on the paper while drawing the bridge and bits of ink splatted around it. Thank goodness I managed to hide it.

I have no idea where the reference picture was taken, so don't ask me. It was one of the photos my art teacher had available.

Anyway, made using nut brown ink. Enjoy.
