I was on minecraft the other day, and on the login screen, there was this thing talking about an art contest. It was a minecraft calendar contest. So I was like, "Oh, hey! Sweet! I might as well enter it." So here's the drawing I made for it.

The contest wanted me to draw "The funniest thing that has ever happened to me while playing minecraft." Unfortunately, I have the memory of a fish and honestly couldn't think of anything. My sister, Daricio, came to the rescue by informing me of the time she cut down a tree and a creeper fell on her head. I tried to sketch a few things for the idea, but it wasn't really working out too well. Daricio actually was the one who helped me figure out what angle this needed to be to get the best artistic look and whatnot, and she helped me with a lot of things in this picture, so I'ma give her a lot of credit here.

As some of you may know, I hate drawing blocks. I really, REALLY hate drawing blocks. And what did I do? Drew blocks. I have this thing where drawing organic shapes comes easier for me, even when you change view point and perspective. Not so much with geometric shapes, which is why you don't see me drawing many buildings or architectural art designs. So to be sort of different and to challenge myself, I decided to stick with drawing the blocks, and this particular point of view makes the blocks be in 2-point perspective, which can be a real pain in the butt and makes your mind rebel against the things you're drawing. After banging my head against a wall for a while and relying quite heavily on some of the nifty tools illustrator provides for just this sort of block-ish picture, I managed to succeed in overcoming the 2-point perspective. Hooray! That being said, I'll most likely stick to drawing things that don't consist of blocks in the future. Yeesh.

Anyway, I have submitted this to the contest, and we'll see what happens!

Edit: I updated the textures and lighting because the old one was bugging me. It looks better now in my opinion.
