Description o.o I finished it. Wow.

This didn't take very long. Blame impossible due dates. It's due tomorrow. I did this in maybe a week and a half. A huge difference in comparison to Peace of Mind, which took me a month.

So, as you may have guessed, this is for my painting class. We had to stretch our own canvases, pick an art style to do a research project on, and paint our own picture using the style techniques. My style was the Hudson River School.

The main things about the style I picked are small details, far-reaching landscapes, and a realistic yet almost magical lighting. I'm no where near as good as the artists who originally made the style, but this is still one of my better pictures and is still pretty awesome!

Anyway, yeah. I took my reference picture in Olympia, Washington on a bridge overlooking the freeway. To the left of the freeway is this spot showing the old brewery and Tumwater falls. It's a really pretty spot, and I'm glad I was able to capture it.

Made using acrylics. 16 in X 18 in. Stretched canvas.

Wow, fantastic acrylicwork!! The details, perspective, and depth all play off each other and work together. The water seems a bit unbalanced, but everything is gorgeous nonetheless (:

Thanks. ^^' The water was actually one of the more challenging parts. I did the river before I did any of the trees around it, and I wasn't really sure how it fit in with everything else at that time. It turned out pretty good considering, but I would like to hear what you think is off about it because I'm not entirely sure.

Where the waterfall drops off, it seems like the water from there on down is 'tilted up'. It doesn't seem to... lay flat. It's hard to describe... I think the coloring looks wonderful... just the perception is off.

I think that part of that is I don't have the trees layering over the water quite right. Nice catch. I thought you were going to mention the fact that I actually made the waterfall way bigger than it is in real life.

Holy cow, that's incredible! I mean...wow!!! The only thing I see that I would recommend at least looking at is that the lines of the building seem to blend into the background a bit. I'd like to see them be just a touch crisper. The colors are fabulous, and I love that tree closest to us!

^^' thanks. As for the lines around the brewery, I figured that the red-brown would contrast with the trees enough to have them stand out, but I can see what you're saying. And I'm glad you like the tree that is closest. I was a little bit worried that it wouldn't turn out properly since I was kinda rushed and only did that bit in only about an hour. So good to know that I managed to get an obi-approved despite my time issues!

Obi-approved...I fail to see how that is anything really worth anything, but I do appreciate the compliment. LOL

You're more than welcome. Part of being a painter/artist is being able to pull things of despite the issues.
