Description
I was wandering around this morning, trying to finish off a roll of film, when I saw, in a stairwell I had never been in before, some graffiti. And a small road cone.I knew that this was the coolest damn thing I would see all day, and so I decided to take a picture.
But it was dark. The camera called for 1 sec. exposure at f4, so, naturally, I cranked it up until it was a fifteen second deal, set it on a banister, and popped in and out of the picture while it was exposing.
In the darkroom, I used a ridiculously high-contrast filter to produce as much grain as possible. I wanted to dodge the little road cone to make it more visible, but it wouldn't have looked right.

I knew the stairwells at Delta were weird, but this is downright nightmarish. And the writing on the wall and incredibly dark traffic cone don't help ease the mood any.

You have no idea how long I spent trying to get that traffic cone lighter, but for the full effect, I had to print this at maximum contrast, meaning that the cone kind of faded to black with the floor. I had never been in this stairwell before...not this part of it at least. It's actually the closest stairwell to Budd Lounge, but...I just never had a reason to go into it before. Then the other day I was wandering around Delta looking for pictures, and came down to the first floor in Budd. Turns out, this is right next to the girls' locker room; that's comforting, no?

Oh, that stairwell. I don't remember it having that creepy vibe before...in fact, it was quite refreshing to enter an empty stairwell after exiting a locker room filled with old women. Ugh...I still get chills thinking about that...
I actually think the cone looks good dark like that. It fits better with the Silent Hill-ness of the scene, though I suppose not as much as a pyramid would.

Though I've never played the game, I've seen enough pyramid-head people on this sight to sort of get what you're talking about. Yeah...I don't understand the cone. Did a janitor put it there to keep people from getting near the graffiti? If not, how did it get there?

Well, knowing the crazy janitors at Delta, I'd rather not question their twisted reasoning about such things.

Emo...
Kidding! Well, I'm starting to wonder how many tries it took you to make this shot. I find it really cool

Just two, as it turns out, although I took two extras just to be sure.

Well, I'd rather live in Alaska. The city's not really my thing, although I do enjoy photographing it.
As for the hat, many have tried; none have succeeded--for long.
