Description Persephone was the Daughter of Demeter, Greek Goddess of grain and fertility. She was stolen away by Hades, king of the underworld and the original emo, to be his bride--kind of kinky, since he was her uncle (on both her mother's and father's side), but that's Gods for you. Demeter, who was apparently a needy, overbearing woman with separation anxiety, went AWOL, and since she's the one controlling the food, things got bad. After a while, Zeus and some of the other psychopaths running the universe noticed that those pesky humans seemed to be less forthcoming with the sacrifices when they were dying of famine, so Zeus called up his incestuous pedophile brother and told him to let Persephone out of the basement.
Unfortunately, Hades had tricked her into eating some pomegranate seeds, so she had to stay in the underworld for all eternity.
Nobody seemed exactly sure why pomegranate seeds prevent you from leaving the underworld, but they eventually came to a compromise where half the year Persephone would stay with her mother, and half the year she would stay with her uncle/pimp/kidnapper, during which time her mother sulked and winter ruled the land. As goddess of the underworld and the earth and all the things therein, she became known as The Iron Queen.

This doesn't explain why, when it's summer in Greece, it's winter in the southern hemisphere, of course.
Gods are worse than the house of representatives for pork-barreling their own jurisdictions.

You know, Hades wasn't all that bad. Hes' one of the nicest members of his family by far.

Which isn't saying much.

TouchΓ©. Nevertheless, he didn't actually do anything bad in the myths. He didn't directly attack humans, and he didn't rape women. The 'rape' of Persephone referred to abduction, and that was pretty much an acceptable way to marry someone in that culture.

Mmm...pomegranates. Delicious things, they are.

I like the depth of field in this photo. Keeping the pomegranate in focus while blurring everything else was definitely a good choice.

I'd like to point out, however, that you should've worn a glove; the bare hand looks altogether too human and takes away from the mysteriousness of your character. But that's just my opinion. Take that as you will.

I don't really have any gloves that would work. My trigger mits, while awesome, come off as less occult and more spy-thriller. They would work well with the shot on my Myspace, though.
