It was about time for me to post some antagonists for Codex Black, deadly masqueraders whom cute and innocent Donaji & Itzcacalotl will have to face.Their names are zapotec, though in Naga’chi and Ziuula’s case they may be rather just words and never used as proper names by actual zapotecs.

Berguiidi (acento grave, tono alto en la segunda sílaba): Mariposa. xD
Beél (tono alto): Carne. xD
Pero en zapoteco del centro:
Beguidibeela: Murciélago (mariposa de carne). xD
En zapoteco del centro:
Yatzin (acento en la "A"): Murciélago (probable prestado de otro idioma). xD

Ah! alguna vez había leído que el murciélago es considerado una especie de "mariposa de carne" en muchas culturas mesoamericanas. Yo lo encontré en un diccionario de zapoteco del istmo, según el cual Guidiribeela es literalmente murciélago, por eso la diferencia supongo.

Jajaja, sí quería darle un poco la apariencia de vampiro a Guidiribeela, pero es lo opuesto a un vampiro, ya que en vez de chupar la sangre de otros, usa la suya para matar. Es una hechicera Tepanmizoni, que significa "que sangra sobre la gente", eran hechiceros que destruían y mataban por medio de su sangre.
Y su máscara está inspirada en esculturas de Piquete Ziña.

Though none of all the characters I've drawn so far are maya to be honest
Many are aztec, zapotec, otomi, or even from fictional cultures, but I haven't drawn a maya character so far since I know too little about them. Not sure if a maya character may have an important role since the protagonists won't go to the mayan lands in the story.

I was thinking of those types of people. I guess that the Mayans were the first ones that came to me while thinking about how they did things. I guess I should do my research more so I understand these things more.
