Description *Very* different from previous comics. For one, this is the first that takes place on Earth instead of whatever ponified Hollywood Equestria the others exist in.

And two, technically has no real ponies. Go figure. Does that make this a misnomer? Ah well.

Could the Thing mimic a Pony? Well, it doesn't have to worry about being a perfect copy, so I don't see why not. It certainly seemed fine with guesswork and improvisation in dispatching Base 31.

If you've not seen the 1982 "The Thing", you need to. Do it now. Go!

And no, I will never be addressing the 2011 version. That's all there is to say about the matter.

I don't care if I died and got absorbed, i would still hug the Octy pony!

Yeah I'd probably hug it even if it melted me into goo in the process...
You HAD to use Octy.

Fucking great someone actually remembers the old "thing" movie rather than the poor excuse for a movie that was made in 2011.
I salute you sir!

Hah! Good stuff.

And this poster speaks the truth. For all you uninformed out there, open a window to your soul and let John Carpenter's 1982 masterpiece in.

And then let Howard Hawk's excellent-and-completely-different 50's version in as well.

Don't let the new one in, though. You leave that one out in the cold.

Did you ever see the 1970's version of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"?

It has Leonard Nimoy.

We must never sleep again... Seth already has us beat on that point.

I assumed that the absorption was only required when making a "perfect copy". Certainly the Thing showed great creativity with making on the fly modifications to itself in defense. If it didn't need to perfectly 'mimic' something, it could probably go for a very close proximity- given time anyways.

never think about that one, but since in the movie it always gets a guy alone to kill and create a copy of it thats why i asked xD but i remember the walking head that was hilarious on the movie

I loved the Thing for its special effects. Especially for the time the movie was made. The horror factor not so much. Agreed about the recent "prequel", it tried too hard to be the original. Way too hard.

This would however explain all those Octo-Octavia pics that have been showing up lately.
