Description The close quarters combat variant of my high caliber rifle (somewhat still WIP).
A much shorter barrel and muzzle brake make this variant very compact, useful in very tight quarters and for infantry deploying out of vehicles.
The user needs to be careful where he/she puts fore hand to avoid being burned by exhaust gas, use of a fore grip is recommended to aid this.

On a side note, I'm getting a little less lazy with renders, now i composite 2 of my "easy render" methods

Both futuristic and practical. Exactly what I love. Now that's my type of gun)

Very nice. I see lots of potential for a SBR like this.

change out that flash hider for one more like those on the "Krinkov" or "Galilon" shorties- and the burn issue goes away, and while they are not a silencer at all- they do drop the noise a lot, as well as the compression. That last is important- especially if you've ever had compression sickness... It sucks. Especially important for CQB stuff, inside and close quarters.

This one if you notices is just an old crappy version of the bullpup I've been showing you. In general now I just avoid putting hot exposed barrels right in front of the trigger, give those supporting hands a home

If the rail covers came back a bit farther- you would put your thumb through the trigger guard to keep it from going forward. Or add a front grip to the lower rail~

You could have a swivle tact grip that could move our to 45 degree angels from the foregrip. I have to say I'm very impressed and looking forward to seeing the completed version if it come up!

I used Maya, but 3Dmax, C4D, and other 3D programs can all do this. Yet, you can't pick any of them up and do this easily either

looks like you an i share a liking for similar design features.

I love the charging handle, unique and unobtrusive. However, The overall shape of the weapon is just great, although the lower half however I feel is lacking. The pistol grip for example (though not bad) I think is overdone, and the magazine well a bit in the way. The magazine itself is too short for a comfortable and quick reload, as the magazine well gets in the way.

Also, I think you should post a shot with multiple angles to really show off your weapon.

[link] here is my concept, to show you why I like your concept so much lol. It is a work in progress.

Hehe, clean bullpups are very nice indeed.
This ones pretty old though, probably everything you noted I will have fixed if I was to model it again. Here are 2 paintings with the general design updated...

it kinda looks like a P90, FN-SCAR, and FAMAS all got together and made a baby... and this is it, i'd have to say style wise it's excellent but i'm not a fan of a stock magwell it makes reloads less fluid

Bullpups arn't slow to reload, they are simply different. Whichever gun you are trained on is what you will excel at.

It was fun to work on. I don't do any 3D anymore, but doing a new model of this would be on the list if I did.
The current version can be seen in the 'As One' and 'Rangers' paintings.

It's excellent and you know weapons; I see a P90 merged with an F2000 and G36 and think you really took the best of all worlds. All I'd say is through in a little bulk in there, obviously a weapon meant for tank crews has gotta watch the length but I think it could stand to be widened up a bit, make it seem bulkier and able to withstand some impact.

Cheers, great design!

Shimmering-Sword In reply to Seothen [2009-08-15 06:17:21 +0000 UTC]

The p90 and fn2000 are definitely an inspiration here, and clean lined rifles like the g36 are always a go.
Next time I work on this design it should improve a lot, I even bought a real AR15 so I could study the workings (not to mention it's fun to shoot).

I think for external ref web photos are ok, but I could never find internal shots that I could understand, so going for the real deal is a must. $1000 for a basic AR15, mine is worth $1750 after I pimped it up.

Shimmering-Sword In reply to Seothen [2009-08-15 20:12:19 +0000 UTC]

Reminds me of Machine Head's first album. That's just what you did

Anyways, you said .50 cal, but that includes quite a lot of cartidges. .50 Beowulf perhaps? A .50 BMG would be a little oversized in such a small platform. But then again, such immense power in a small package is be something the army would be looking for. Well atleast it solves the problem of the 5.56 not hitting hard enough xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Shimmering-Sword In reply to Skariaxil [2009-01-21 12:10:44 +0000 UTC]

The round is somewhere between the beowulf and conventional .50 rounds. It has the conventional armor piercing tip of rifle ammo but the round isnt as long. The propellants are also more potent, so the brass behind the round is much shorter.
The mag is double stacked in order to get a reasonable amount of these rounds in for use in high action.

Now looking at this model makes me want to do it over again, its getting ugly.

Kubtanu [2008-09-12 06:44:13 +0000 UTC]

Very interesting concept. Weight and recoil might be an issue due to the calliber. Would it fire regular 50.cal rounds(say browning) or specialized ones with there own cartridge type? Also if the thing fires a fifty it might make more sense for it to fire a specialized grenade round. That way an attachment wouldn't be needed, then again that might be a bit to ridiculous.Hmm maybe o different barrel would allow it to fire regular grenade round(the ones they use in shotguns) or even a 12gauge shotgun round. O the possibility are making me salivate! Wow bit of a rant. Anyways nice piece of art.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Shimmering-Sword In reply to Kubtanu [2008-09-12 08:51:27 +0000 UTC]

Yea, Im not sitting too heavily on realisim
It fires a shorter round than the usual browning, and in this far future Im sure most all munitions will be updated.
HE/AP combo rounds could be used, but straight up grenade rounds sound a bit far fetched for a rifle. For a more realistic high rate of fire grenade platform I would probably make a top mounted launcher for the full lenght version. It could fit on this CQB one, but thats getting a bit bulky. Time will tell.

Kubtanu In reply to Shimmering-Sword [2008-09-12 08:56:35 +0000 UTC]

Well there is a grenade round the size of a 12gauge shotgun round and it is actually fired from a shotgun. It has stabilizing fins that unfold after firing. Its shell is actually a a 12gauge shot gun shell two. It kinda trippy to watch it being fired. Its like "Awww look at the cute little silver fined thingy...O my god It just blew that reinforced door apart!"

Serious gun...
Assault rifle of the new generation?
The Grenade launcher integrated?
Interesting, what there calibre - 7,62 or 5.45 (5.56)?

The Textures will add?

Shimmering-Sword In reply to TheXHS [2008-08-28 19:17:35 +0000 UTC]

Hah, nah this thing is a 50cal (or close to it) rifle. Serious heavy hitter for taking on armored infantry.
The longer versions can sling a grenade launcher though.
I should also create a slimmed down 7.62 variant to please those opposed to 50cal assault. Textures may come.
Thanks for the comment and fav.

good concept, but the eject should be not that much in front of the magazine, than it would be more realistic, but still a good design

Shimmering-Sword In reply to MaxFragg [2008-08-08 17:39:56 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the comment. Actualy the ejection port is on the other side, they are cycled over the breach (like you were talking about) then sent up a tube to be ejected towards the front (so the user doesnt take brass to the face). Also the cocking handle is extended foreward for the same reason of not hurting the user.
