Description
The 3rd piece I've done for sabresteenThis VTOL gunship is fairly straight forward. Two jet engine nacelles provide vertical lift capability, and during level flight an additional tail thruster kicks in for extra speed.
A turret cannon (maybe a gauss rifle) on the underside can rain down death, while two weapons pylons allow all manner of missiles and rockets to be carried into battle.

I don't think it looks anything like the dropship from aliens.
The dropship from aliens was combination cobra helicopter and a harrier jet.
It's not even the functional equivalent to theΒ dropship from aliens the VindicatorΒ is lol.

It's very brave of you to choose this particular view. Partial or full orthographic views can make an illustration look very flat, but you've avoided that here.
I do wonder about the location of the landing gear though? With that chin turret you'd need quite long legs...

I forget if I tackled that part while painting it, but they could be within the nacelles, but it'd force it to land vertically. Alternatively from the belly between the pylons, balance willing.

I expect it's just the body lines and the angle that we are seeing the aircraft from.

I originally described the way it should lookΒ as crossΒ between anΒ apache helicopter and the typical look of a futuristic vtol aircraft.
I also described it as having a very muscular look. So it does have that kind of bulky front look that theΒ Aliens dropship.
Apparently the Aliens dropships cockpit was based on the old US cobra helicopter.
