Description
Long time no Ranger art! The solder was picked by request, and I was itching to paint some exotic mecha. Done an about 3.5 hours, possible a little less.A Ranger infantryman is caught off guard by a nimble heavy type power armor.
The power armor uses a neural link to control the extra set of arms, rather than slaving to the users arms. It can carry a wide variety of weapons from machineguns to light autocannons while it's shoulders can internally or externally mount additional firepower, such as HEAP rockets.

now that's an awesome battle armor. Are the two little arms the pilot's arms, or are those the heavy mech's?

this is really looking great !! i'm agreeing a bit with J4YK about improving the composition, but my point here is not on the arrangments of the space, but more into the lightening of the scene. Try to light the scene in a way that would help the story ! anyway, great designs on the mecha and the soldier ! keep it up !!

Not bad at all. I imagine that'd take some getting used to; controlling two sets of arms at once can't be easy to do with no prior experience, I imagine.

Yeah, it'd be a lot like going through rehab after being paralyzed for a long time, learning to use limbs.

If the power armor pilot's legs are meant to extend into the armor's legs than the hips look a bit too wide.
The 4-arms of the armor (from the description it seems the smaller arms are the user/pilot's own with some augmentation) give it a very alien look.
The piece overall is good.

Yep that's the intended type of fitting for the pilot, though I was working quick and didn't want to take much time to properly proportion the suit, so mr pilot gets to do the splits when crouching

Really sweet piece of work you've got here. The only thing I notice, and this is minor, is that it's hard to tell if the soldier can actually see the mech over him. The optics are really forward facing, and it looks like he'd have to stare straight up to see the mech. My perspective could be borked, but there it is.

The viewing ability would be about equal, maybe a little more (by compressing the internal view) as our natural field of view. The lenses pick up a fish eye type image that is corrected for the user. So he can see up the face of his helmet, revealing the top of his opponent.

I know what you mean about the brush feeling off. I used to use OpenCanvas more but it has it's limitations so I decided to switch to using PS only. Every programs brush feels a little different, so you just have to keep practicing and you'll get used to it. The odd feeling will go away after a while.

Those are called Landmates aren't they?
This looks similar, but operates differently (no slaved arm movement).
