Well, I can't argue with you their. But in one of the later pages he was doing something to them after realizing what they can do to him.(No spoilers fro me.) I'm surprise he didn't destroyed them or at least hide them.

At this point, it has never even crossed Discord's mind that Celestia would want to defeat him. He's more just curious and a little secretive about the discovery of the Elements.
